U.S. Ambassador to Ireland Dan Rooney has signaled that he intends to step down to personally help with the Obama re-election effort.

In an interview with the Irish Times, Rooney stated he was thinking of returning to the US soon.

“I would probably have to resign to campaign for President Obama’s re-election,” Rooney says. “I think that would be the number one thing I can do for him, and I’d be willing to do so. He’s the best man for the job, without question.”

Rooney played a key role in Pennsylvania when he endorsed Obaam [sic] in 2008. As owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, his backing in a critical state meant a tremendous amount to Obama.

Is it that obvious he inherited the Steelers and his family’s wealth?

Art Rooney is spinning in his grave.

He should have sold the team and given the money to Catholic charities.

That old fool should just change the Stealers logo to the Obama swastika.

Is nephew is a great congressman from Florida.

Tom Rooney (R-Fla.)

The four others brothers demanded to be bought out because of Obama's inheritance proposals and basically told Dan we will sell the team or see if the Bank will buy us out.

Tom Rooney is a native to the area. He and his wife both served the military in the Army JAG Corps. In 2002, Tom went to teach law at West Point before heading home to serve as an Assistant Attorney General. Tom Rooney is active in the community, serving on the Children's Services Council of Palm Beach Board of Directors, while maintaining his law practice. He, his wife, and their three sons live in Tequesta, Florida. More importantly for us at RedState, Tom Rooney is a small government, pro-life conservative. He doesn't just want to cut taxes, he wants to cut spending. We trust Tom to remain consistently conservative when he gets to Washington, D.C.

That is the Rooney's we need.

Dear Dan:

May eternal curse of the Bengals’ Mike Brown fall upon you and your NFL franchise...

“Step Down”?

Can’t get any lower than supporting Obama.

Where’s the baf alert? LOL!!!

I’ll never forget their Super Bowl win in 2009 & how he took the microphone to “thank” President Barack Obama, as if Barry had actually won the game for them. What a POS.

Being from Pittsburgh, I've followed Rooney for a long time. I've come to a similar conclusion. This might be the real reason he's surrendering the Ambassadorship.
