A transgender woman beaten at a Baltimore County McDonald's spoke out on Saturday, saying that the attack was "definitely a hate crime" and that she's been afraid to go out in public ever since.
"They said, 'That's a dude, that's a dude and she's in the female bathroom,' " said Chrissy Lee Polis, 22, who said she stopped at the Rosedale restaurant to use the restroom. "They spit in my face."
A worker at the restaurant taped Monday's attack and created a graphic video that went viral last week. After the video garnered hundreds of thousands of views on websites, McDonald's issued a statement condemning the incident, and on Saturday the worker who taped the incident was fired.
The video shows two females — one of them a 14-year-old girl — repeatedly kicking and punching Polis in the head as an employee and a patron try to intervene. Others can be heard laughing, and men are seen standing idly by.
....Her twin brother, Matty Polis, who also lives in Baltimore, said it's been painful to watch her have to endure these sorts of attacks.
"My sister has gotten this her entire life," Matty Polis said. "Being the way she is, she's always had a hard time."
Polis, who was raised by her grandmother in Dundalk and Essex, graduated from Chesapeake High and hasn't had a job or stable place to stay for the past two years, according to her mother, Angela Thomas.
Polis, who is white, believes race may have also been a factor in her attack— both the assailants were black, according to the police report.
Equality Maryland has called on state Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler to step in and investigate the case as a hate crime.

Exactly. I still think they thought it ws a white girl and the sex stuff has come in afterwards.I personally couldn’t tell it was a transgendered in the video and I was born a girl.

I imagine too that if these employees are fired and/or the regular customers prosecuted, the place will be burned to the ground.
I think Mrs. Obama needs to be front and center in this dispute as it involves lack of good places to buy food (that you take home and cook) and bullying.
This would be a high profile, good place to begin.

And, in what will cause major embarrassment to McDonald’s and its ‘family restaurant’ image, Miss Polis said staff not only allowed the abuse to continue, one employee - identified as Vernon Hackett from images and comment he put online - filmed the incident.....”
Saturday the worker who taped the incident was fired.”

What about the other people who stood around and did little or nothing?
Anyone who did this is complicit in this horrible crime and should be prosecuted.
Right on Savagebeast. The first employee that should have been fired is the manager or assistant manager that was on duty. It appears that the police were not called until the victim went into siezures and was bleeding on the floor.
They (all the employees and the other customers with the exception of the elderly lady that tried to intervene) were complicit spectators to the savage beating. They (all the employees on duty at the time) should be blackballed from ever working in a customer service oriented business again.
It never ceases to amaze me that franchisees will invest one or two million in a fast food facility and then turn it over to idiots to operate. However, this seems to be the rule rather than the exception throughout this industry.

Yes, she is on a video with the victim clinging to her leg at one point and she is in the police report on the smoking gun.
Not that it matters, one beat up person by two bad people was horrific enough IMO.
But NORMAL people would leave the rest room to alert the manager or call the police. They don’t take it upon themselves to kick butt and start ranting and hurting people.
The two girls are criminals.
There was a grandma who defended her who they hurt and I think I read the person might have been post-op.
Usually post-op people have legal paperwork to be in that rest room, even if they might look like a hippo in a skirt.
And we would see this video as much, if not more, than the infamous Rodney King video!!!
