A transgender woman brutally beaten at a Baltimore County McDonald's spoke out on Saturday, saying that the attack was "definitely a hate crime" and that she's been afraid to leave the house ever since.
"They said, 'That's a dude, that's a dude and she's in the female bathroom,'" said Chrissy Lee Polis, who's 22 and said she stopped at the Rosedale restaurant to use the restroom. "They spit in my face."

Polis suffered cuts to her mouth and face, and said she had a seizure. She also admitted she was intoxicated at the time of the assault.

Polis, who said she had a sex change operation to become a woman, said this isn't the first time that she's been picked on — physically — because of her sexual identity. She said she's been subjected to beatings and even sexual assaults.

Her twin brother, Matty Polis, who also lives in Baltimore, said it's been painful to watch his sister have to endure these sorts of attacks.

Polis, who was raised by her grandmother in Dundalk and Essex, graduated from Chesapeake High and hasn't had a job or stable place to stay for the past two years, according to her mother, Angela Thomas. Polis believes race may have been a factor in her attack.

Polis, who has a criminal record that includes charges of prostitution and property destruction, said she plans to take legal action against the restaurant.
"My record's got nothing to do with what happened in McDonald's," she said. "Anyone in my predicament should not be afraid to walk the streets. They should not have to go into a restaurant and get gawked at and made fun of. They shouldn't be afraid to leave the house. It's just wrong."

Actually, you are wrong. The article uses the term transgender......which means that he is a man dressing as a woman, with the possibility he underwent the surgery. Transexual means definitely that the surgery took place. The transgender term is not definitive.
If he uses either bathroom it is a problem.
If I had a daughter, I would not allow a man to go in the bathroom with her, even if he had his privates cut off.
And I should not have to explain to my sons why a woman is using the urinal in the men’s room either.

I would be very, very uncomfortable if he came in a restroom I was in. I wouldn’t be beating him up, but complaining to management, police, telling him off depending on the vibes.

I have to agree with you. I don't know which is sadder--the fact that they mutilate their bodies, or the fact that they think a mere operation will change something as fundamental as gender. This is a psychological problem, not a physical one.
