A transgender woman brutally beaten at a Baltimore County McDonald's spoke out on Saturday, saying that the attack was "definitely a hate crime" and that she's been afraid to leave the house ever since.
"They said, 'That's a dude, that's a dude and she's in the female bathroom,'" said Chrissy Lee Polis, who's 22 and said she stopped at the Rosedale restaurant to use the restroom. "They spit in my face."

Polis suffered cuts to her mouth and face, and said she had a seizure. She also admitted she was intoxicated at the time of the assault.

Polis, who said she had a sex change operation to become a woman, said this isn't the first time that she's been picked on — physically — because of her sexual identity. She said she's been subjected to beatings and even sexual assaults.

Her twin brother, Matty Polis, who also lives in Baltimore, said it's been painful to watch his sister have to endure these sorts of attacks.

Polis, who was raised by her grandmother in Dundalk and Essex, graduated from Chesapeake High and hasn't had a job or stable place to stay for the past two years, according to her mother, Angela Thomas. Polis believes race may have been a factor in her attack.

Polis, who has a criminal record that includes charges of prostitution and property destruction, said she plans to take legal action against the restaurant.
"My record's got nothing to do with what happened in McDonald's," she said. "Anyone in my predicament should not be afraid to walk the streets. They should not have to go into a restaurant and get gawked at and made fun of. They shouldn't be afraid to leave the house. It's just wrong."

If you actually watch the tape, it appears the bathroom WAS a single-user, key-required bathroom, because of the victim's remark that he needed to buy something in order to be able to use the bathroom.
I've been in a lot of McDonalds over the years, they tend to be standardized, and the bathrooms generally are single-user.
The victim was attacked because the girls decided he was flirting with one of their boyfriends, and they felt "dissed" over that.

Yes, many of those in attendance are guilty of callous disregard for the dignity of life (as are some on this thread, from the comments). At least they fired the lowlife employee that took the video (who coached the girls to leave before the cops arrived). Of course he'll just go get another 8 dollar an hour job somewhere else.
As for the when/where/time that would include the entire city of Baltimore. There's really noplace safe there, for either black or white people.
There is more than one "transgendered" man/woman in my town, and they are simply men who dress and (try) to speak like women. They look like men in drag. Even hopefully not being able to see the mutilated genitals, my daughter would think that there is a man in the lady's room, a drunk one at that, and be scared. And if a drunk man dressed like a woman scares my daughter by being in the ladies' room at McDs, I'm not checking under the skirt before I look after my kid's best interests.
This said, I do not at all condone the brutality and I think the perpetrators should be arrested. It went far beyond getting a drunk man out of the ladies' room.
Not to change the subject, but do those still exist? I haven't seen one in years upon years now. Just asked both of my teenage kids, and they both looked at me like I was retarded for suggesting that a bathroom be accessed from the outside with a key.

Interesting. . .well, there may not be many; but they do ‘still exist’. Was in a ‘service station’ not too long ago; when someone asked for key. Cannot remember ‘what’ kind of stations I was in however. Some of the smaller service areas; with a small ‘store’ in between; where bathroom entry is outside; rather than ‘inside’. Was in one as well; where key was needed and entry was from inside. . .so they are ‘out there’ but yes, most do not require such but most of these too; have only bathroom; not multiple stalls - where trouble more likely could erupt.
Actually I was in a ladies room at a university once when I realized the person washing her hands next to me was actually a man. Really big feet, really big high heeled shoes, lots of makeup, really red lipstick. Then a friend of hers, possibly also a post-surgery person, came into the ladies room.
I had a two-fold reaction: amazement and sadness. These people were, by definition, abnormal and they must have known that. What an unhappy life they must lead. I don’t even know how they find clothes or shoes to wear.
I didn’t get the impression that they were a threat in any way. Didn’t get the impression that they were out looking to fool around. I came away with the impression that they were really big guys with a problem. Very sad.
Now I am sure there are some aggressive predators. But the girl in the video and the people I saw in the ladies room were not aggressive at all. Just sad.
Think about this, a white guy is walking down the street. He gets jumped on and beaten by a black because he is white. Then a trannie is walking down the street and gets jumped on and beaten because he’s a trannie. How is that different?

As they beat the victim, his/her wig came off and they discovered that he/she was transsexual, then they started screaming, ‘dude using ladies restroom’- convenient excuse when the cops showed up.
This was just another ‘white beat down’- but this one seems to have backfired a bit.
Regardless of who or what this misguided person is, he/she is still a human being, and I hope those who beat him/her and those who stood around and laughed, filmed the horror and egged the attackers on pay for it dearly.

the transsexual person is FAR more afraid of the others in the bathroom than vice versa. they are fully aware how things can escalate and they know the world is full of people like some Freepers (by their own testimony) who will chose violence as the first option.
There are web sites that do nothing but list where one-seat/door-locked bathrooms are available, or unisex bathrooms at least.
The difference here is that Chrissy is already anatomically female, and also not overtly masculine in appearance or voice. logically she shouldn't HAVE to take those precautions.
