David Cameron studies plans for multi-faith Lords ( UK )

David Cameron is considering plans to create a "multi-faith" House of Lords where Muslim imams could sit alongside Anglican and Catholic bishops.

The controversial suggestion is revealed in a paper drawn up by Tory officials which calls for a wide range of different churches to be represented once reforms to the Upper House are carried out.

Currently 26 Anglican bishops have seats in the Lords. But Nick Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister, is drawing up a draft bill setting out wholesale changes to the Lords that are expected to include provisions for hundreds of existing peers, including the bishops, to be evicted while at least 80 per cent of new members are elected.

...

The idea of imams in the House of Lords may upset some people but that is better than not having anything spiritual at all.

From what I have seen of Islamic "leaders", atheists would be more spiritual.

how the hell do you get an imam in the house of lords when the seats are inherited? If you are going to start that BS then its not the house of lords anymore. Might as well end the house of lords all together.

It is, after all, The Church of England.

They’ll be better off not changing that.

That would be like making room some cancer cells in your brain just for the sake of biodiversity.

Make sure they sit within sword swinging distance. Don't want to make it too hard for the muzzie to murder them like he's commanded to!

Three estates ~ the Nobles, the Church and the Commons. This comes down from Medieval times. The kings rarely called meetings of the Commons. The Nobles were available for feasts at the King's castle all the time. He saw the Church on Sundays.

If you had a meeting of the Estates General, ALL the estates met.

BTW, this is why the news media pukes used to refer to themselves as the Fourth Estate ~ just as if they were a piece of government.

The Brits and the British Commonwealth nations imagine they're catching up with the rest of the world by modernizing the House of Lords. Canada did this and it went from being the laughing stock of the North to being the outrageous fun house of crazy whacked out Leftwingtards of the North.

This could be dangerous.

The Parliament of England developed from the Magnum Concilium, the "Great Council" that advised the King during medieval times.[6] This royal council came to be composed of ecclesiastics, noblemen, and representatives of the counties (afterwards, representatives of the boroughs as well). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Lords

Under Edward III Parliament was divided into ecclesiastics, noblemen (The Lords Spiritual and Temporal) and county and borough representatives (The Commons)

Just a few weeks ago, Cameron was quoted as saying that multiculturalism had failed. Did he mean that letting the British hang around while Muzzies moved in was a bad idea?

I thought the House of Lords had been done away with. If it hasn’t letting the head-choppers in will be sure to do it.
