Club for Growth President Chris Chocola gave six-term Sen. Dick Lugar (R-Ind.) some unsolicited advice Tuesday: Retire.
Chocola, a former Congressman from Indiana who served in the House from 2003 to 2007, told ABCs Top Line that his fiscally conservative organization is considering getting involved in Lugars 2012 re-election campaign in the Hoosier State. The club has already met with Lugars primary opponent, state Treasurer Richard Mourdock (R).
We are looking at that race very closely, Chocola said. We do have some concerns about Sen. Lugar and his service. We think it would probably be best if he would retire at this point. So we havent made any decisions at this point, but we are looking at it very closely, and it is one of the races that is very high on our radar.

The Club for Growth was hunting rino's in primaries long before the Tea Party existed. Not that both aren't welcome, but the CfG was there first.

A lot of organizations nationwide have been hunting RINOs long before the Tea Party.
The Tea Party just increased their power tenfold.
Otherwise Lugar, among others, would have long been history.

I’m with Count Chockula. Lugar’s well past his shelf-life.

Good observation. It is like the British invasion of blues to America made a lot of black blues players famous. BB King admitted that and is grateful.

When you look up “squishy” RINO in the dictionary, Lugar’s picture is there.

I wrote Lugar a while back, & warned him that if he supported the (so-called) DREAM act he was, in so many words, “toast.”
He replied with a greasy, egg-sucking form letter.

I doubt he’ll listen. It makes too much sense.
