Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., believes the United States should get out of the conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya as soon as possible. ...Rockefeller also criticized the way military appropriations are often approved as part of "supplementary" budget legislation, hiding them from the public.
"The military budget needs to come under new scrutiny. When I voted for the Iraq War, it was one of the worst votes in my life," Rockefeller said.
"Today, I have grave misgivings about being in Iraq for another week. We should be out of Iraq this year altogether," he said. "We are not going to win. It is not in the cards. Many Asian countries have a totally tribal culture.
"It is the same thing in Afghanistan, Libya and Yemen," Rockefeller said.
"I didn't object to four days of bombing in Libya. But now the CIA is on the ground. That makes me nervous. I don't have any patience with the Libyan endeavor," Rockefeller said.
"Libya makes no sense to me. I don't think we should be there at all. We should get out of there and we should get out of Afghanistan. We can't win there. We can't change the country....
"Do you want three failed wars in a row? I don't want to be in those places. And it has a great deal to do with the [federal] budget."
Rockefeller also believes information provided to justify military interventions is often inaccurate.
"As a member of our [Senate] Intelligence Committee, we can investigate the skullduggery and the manipulation of information that is classified."
But Rockefeller vigorously supports doing everything possible to protect our troops stationed in all those countries.
"My nephew has just gone over to Afghanistan, as a Marine. I don't want to do anything to hurt him or other soldiers."

Haven’t heard from this slime-ball in a while.
There is a Rockefeller who is a Marine?
Who knew?
It’s a disgrace that West Virginia keeps re-electing this guy to the Senate. The WV GOP needs to get off its collective butt and return this guy to private life.
I do believe he was in love with Saddam Hussein ~ thought him dashing and daring when he showed up at a cabinet meeting and started murdering cabinet ministers.
Jay, what a card ~ he'd love some applause I bet.
“U.S. needs to be out of three conflicts”
No kidding?
Even slime balls can be correct.
I actually agree with him... but can we wait and see if Trump gets the nomination so we can seize their oil first?
Auuuggghh! This POS fills me with so much loathing, I can barely breathe!
Where do I start to describe Fear and Loathing of Jay Rockefeller?
Yuck
YUCK!
If the Rockefeller family truly wanted us out of the three wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya, we’d be out in less than a month. What a bucket of horse waste.
There's not much clout left in the diluted Rockefeller family.
That was my first though, although this my be the GOP wing of the family in Arkansas. I’d like to know more; it’s unusual that the political class actually participates in the defense of their country.

Fine. If this socialist is serious, then he will introduce a bill that would cut funding for these wars.
I agree with him on this one. We should withdraw from Iraq, as well as Afghanistan — via Teheran.
Libya, he admits, we never should've gotten involved in and the sooner we end that charade the better. Obama authorizing drones is not the right direction.
We were getting out of Iraq at year's end anyway unless Obama changes his mind. Eight years plus is more than enough time for the Iraqi people to have stood up as we stood down. We got rid of Saddam, we moved from a transition government to free elections and self-rule. It's all up to them now.
Afghanistan is frustrating. I don't have a good sense of how that fiasco is going.
It's certainly looking like none of those pieces of dirt were worth the thousands of KIA and they will shamefully have been lives lost in vain. I hate it. I can foresee resentment of those freed peoples for not stepping up.
It strengthens the case against interventionism or nation building and shows the incompetence of Baby Boomer leadership. If we had this crowd in the 40s, Adolf and Hirohito would've carved the world in half.
I’d love to see our troops out of Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan. Not one drop of American blood should be spent on that cesspool. We need the armed forces at home to protect our own borders.
