A woman who claims she was sexually assaulted by a convicted offender she met on the dating website Match.com went public Tuesday with a series of media appearances, saying, "I want to prevent something like this happening to another woman."
Carole Markin, a Harvard College graduate and film and TV producer, was previously called "Jane Doe" in a class-action lawsuit filed April 13 in Los Angeles County, California, Superior Court.

Need to find out if this is the same Carole Markin who wrote two books about Bad Dates: Tales From the Dark Side of Love.

I think she needs to read her own book.

“I want to prevent something like this happening to another woman” and make a LOT of money in the process.

“I want to prevent something like this happening to another woman.”
Sorry, that would require a modicum of intelligence and self respect.

I had been widowed, and after I moved to FL, I went on Match.com. I made contact with a widowed lady and we began dating and 15 months later, we got married. We’ve been married now for over eight years. The system sure worked for us.

You know how to prevent stuff like this from happening again? Don’t date people you just met over the Web!
God, help us. Idiots walk among us.

I am very happy for the two of you. However, I would think there are common safety practices that people should use when meeting a “stranger”. Like, drive yourself on the date and meet at a restaurant. Do a little checking online. Let people know who you are seeing and when... IMHO, it is no different than if someone walked up to you, said hello and asked to go on a date. You don’t KNOW them... just a thought.

That link sheds light on her shakedown lawsuit. I have no idea if her rape allegation is true. Her lawsuit is completely bogus however. She is looking for a big payday.

So the only way the old Gal could get a date was with the puter. Maybe she should try a truck stop.

Thanks for that link, it was very informative.
Maybe she's telling the truth, or maybe she's a loon trying to sell her two books on "Bad Dates."
He "forced her" to perform oral sex on him and she called the cops eight days later. Then she filed a "Jane Doe" lawsuit and issued a press release, with her resume, bravely announcing that she was outing herself as Jane Doe.
She labeled herself the "Erin Brocovich of online dating" and announced also that she's shopping a reality show concept. I'd love to hear more specifics on that!

We arranged to meet at a restaurant in Delray Beach. I had no idea what she looked like. I had posted a fairly recent picture of me. I told her I'd be wearing a Hawaiian shirt and Bermuda Shorts and I'd be sitting at the bar. Practically every guy in there was dressed like that so she had to ask a couple of guys if they were me. We finally met and had a very nice dinner. I had no idea where she lived; she'd let me know once I "checked out."
She had the advantage. She could look around and if nothing there interested her, she could've kept on going with noone the wiser.

Typical American Liberal woman looking for a free lunch. She is responsible for her own safety. Just she met the guy on line it doesn't mean she could guarantee anything about him. This is a charactiture of the feminist shakedown artist, blaming someone else for the consequences of her near sightedness and ignorance and looking for a deep pocket to pay her way. Captain No Marriage.com has her pegged.
