Tributes were paid in Poland's capital on Tuesday to those who took part in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising against the Nazis exactly 68 years ago.
Wreaths were laid at Warsaw's Monument to the Ghetto Heroes by a number of top state officials, including the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Bogdan Zdrojewski, the Deputy Speaker of the Senate, Zbigniew Romaszewski, and Warsaw Mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz.
Representatives from the embassies of Israel, the US and Germany were also in attendance, while the presidential advisor on historical policy, Thomas Nałęcz, laid a wreath on behalf of President Bronisław Komorowski.
The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising broke out on April 19, 1943 and lasted through May 16 of that year.
Armed resistance had been recorded earlier than April 19, but the Uprising constituted the single largest Jewish insurgency against Nazi plans to liquidate the ghetto.
Around 1,000 lightly armed insurgents from the Jewish resistance movement fought against 2,000 German troops, who were supported by armored vehicles, artillery and aircraft.
Approximately 13,000 Jews were killed during the uprising, according to a German military report into the event. The majority of the survivors were rounded up and sent to concentration and extermination camps.
“For us, what happened in World War II is something that almost happened yesterday,” Piotr Kadlcik, chairman of the union of Jewish Communitites in Poland, said at the commemoration on Monday.
“We remember about this, we remember the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising ... Jews who decided to fight in the uprising did not do so to achieve a particulatr strategic objective, they fought to die with dignity.” GP

May I add that the Poles resisted the Nazis in various other actions.
If you get the chance, read Jan Karski and his book “The Story of the Secret State.” It’s all about the Polish underground and how they organized resistance to the Nazis.

I think the Tea Party is an answer to that. However, there are still WAY too many people who have 0 idea what the he’ll is going on. They only care about American Idol and the ball game. We are in arguably the most dangerous time in our nation’s history, how many people understand this?
What took the Polish Jews so long? What did they have to fight with? It took years for them to get the arms they did have to rebel when they did. At least here, we have a large number of the population that is armed. That’s probably the only thing that’s keeping the cabal in Washington from declaring Martial Law - they know a large number of them will get greased.
Personally, I never owned a gun before 1/20/2009. Coincidence? No. And many people have done the same thing. I’ll say this, if the time comes, I’m not wearing a star and getting hoarded on a train. I’ll take as many of the motherf***ers out as I can.
Of course. The Warsaw Ghetto was the age-old home of the Palestinian People. The Germans rushed to their aid, and ended the Zionist occupation of Warsaw.
