The facts: CNN has investigated these claims by "birthers" who say the nation's 44th president was not born in America and thus is not eligible to be president.
The Obama team and the state of Hawaii released a certification of live birth that documents the president's birth on August 4, 1961, in Honolulu. This is not the original birth certificate but is a valid legal document. In Hawaii and other states, original birth certificates are not released when requested later.
The certificate, officials say, allows a person born in Hawaii to get a driver's license, purchase land and obtain a U.S. passport.
The "birthers" claim that Obama doesn't want to show the birth certificate because it may claim that he wasn't born in America....

Can anyone confirm if the abbreviated COLB is OK for
a passport?
I used a certified copy of my REAL birth certificate, so I do not know.
Until Obozo came around, I had never heard of an abbreviated “COLB”. Mine says “Certificate of Live Birth”, but it originated in the hospital, and recorded by the county.(TN)
Zero may very well have been born in Hawaii. But it is the status of his father, and mother and the law in effect at the time, as to whether he meets the Natural Born Citizen criteria.
In my reading of it, he clearly does not IFF Barack Hussein Obama Sr is his father.
Remember the fuss all these msm types put up about Bush’s NG records. Even after he had them released they pursued it like he was hiding something. Now they are offended at the thought of even asking for obumbers records of anything. I guess GW should have written a book before he ran for president, but who know that was all the press needed. I have a county-issued “Certificate of Birth Registration” with the raised stamp seal. It is not accepted. It is shorter than the original.
I have a state-issued “Certificate of Live Birth”. It is marked “Certification of Vital Record”. It is a photocopy from the hand-written hospital original. It is acceptable.

Their own words say that it allows a person born in Hawaii trouble get a passport, etc...but it does not state that a person not born in Hawaii can legally use it for that. However, isn’t it done?

Was it the same type that Obama used?
Others have claimed that the Obama type of COLB was not acceptable for passport.
By the way, you do not need it when RENEWING your passport.
