BOSTON — A record number of North Atlantic right whales have been spotted off Massachusetts, prompting state officials to warn boaters to stay clear of the endangered animals.

An aerial survey of Cape Cod Bay and surrounding waters on Tuesday identified 101 individual right whales, the most ever spotted in a single day. The previous high came last April when 70 of the whales were spotted during a single aerial survey.

Are there also Left Whales? How about Independent whales?

Why are we always saying that the Right whales are the ones that are endangered? I think they are not as rare as everyone says...just sayin’

The Right Whale is the ‘right’ or best whale to hunt for whale oil. That is how it got it’s name. Seriously.

No whales actually sighted. The large dark object in the water venting was Michelle Obama.
