A father has been charged with child abuse after encouraging his son to fight with a school bully, encouraging him to 'slam his head on the ground'.
Philip Scott Struthers, from Florida, was arrested and ordered by a judge to stay away from his children after a video showing him screaming at his son to viscously fight with another was given to police.
The video shows the 41-year-old coaching Jake, 16, through the fist fight and giving him orders like: 'Punch his eyes out...Slam his head on the ground.'
He was arrested and charged with child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
In court, he was ordered to stay away from all minors, including his own children.
The judge, who was astounded at the case, told him: 'Your relationship with your child is over with. You cannot see, live with or communicate with your minor children.'
Struthers appeared on Good Morning America today to try and defend his actions saying he was just trying to protect his son from bullies.
He said: 'I apologize for what I said but I do stand behind protecting my son.

Um, how exactly is one *supposed* to deal with school bullies, given that the authorities do nothing? “Now let him punch you again!” “Now let him stomp on your head, now that you’re on the ground!” ?!
Parents cheering at wrestling matches is any different? Boxing?
The father should be commended.
Suffice it to say, his "ick" factor is sky-high. There's something not right about him.
The difference between parents cheering on their kids in sports and parents cheering on their kids in a schoolyard fight is lost on you?

I guess that whole war against the Nazis was for grins. Clearly, the Britons live in a totalitarian state.
No sympathy for bullies.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Florida judges are the worst.
“The difference between parents cheering on their kids in sports and parents cheering on their kids in a schoolyard fight is lost on you?”
I see a difference. Sports are optional, and therefore unnecessary at base. Self protection in the wake of an illegitimate government’s collapse of authority and control is not.
That goes for dear old dad, too, I hope?
This was in Florida.
There’s a very high risk factor involved in all three. Both of my dad’s shoulders are pretty screwed up from wrestling in college, and that was over 40 years ago for him. Not to mention he’s broken his nose multiple times, though probably not all from wrestling.
Separated shoulders, broken bones, possibility of concussion, it’s always there.
While screaming like that definitely shows something wrong, I’ve never seen anybody on this website NOT say that the way to deal with bullies is to do it the old fashioned way.
I lived in St Pete for 13 years and was fortunate not to have been in front of any judges, but you are correct, most are intolerable.
I’d say, “Your Honor, with all due respect, go f**k yourself”.
That was my point.
