Frontlines next exposé focuses on the decades of abuse of Native Americans by priests and other church workers in Alaska, and in one particular town they find, nearly 80% of the towns children were molested by Catholic priests.
As we reported on this story just a few weeks ago, the Roman Catholic Church, as part of ongoing lawsuits, will make payments to approximately 700 male and female sexual and psychological abuse, molestation, and rape victims who were living in Alaska Native villages and Indian reservations from Montana to Washington, Idaho and Oregon, and who were sexually or psychologically abused as children by Jesuit missionaries in those states in the 1940s through the 1990s, according to a statement by attorneys.
The latest agreement will financially compensate 524 victims with $166.1 million in cases including accusations against 140 Jesuit priests, brothers, and nuns from the Oregon Province of the Society of Jesus, in the Pacific Northwest. Only $48 million will come from the Catholic Church, the remainder will be paid by its insurance companies.
None of the Jesuit priests are being charged with any crime related to this abuse, rape, and molestation settlement.

lastchance, I often see you on threads like these, so I’m pinging you in case you’re interested.
The show was a Frontline piece.
Watch the show and then tell us your thoughts.

I stand on what I wrote in your post...and all prior posts. ‘If the shoe fits’..as is said.
I’d have no problem with public executions of the perps — those animals have no place on Earth, let alone the trusting environment of the RCC to which I belong.
The Church’s involvement with the Virtus program is taken seriously at multiple levels, and without the exposure I’m not sure the vast, imperfect hierarchy would have made a serious effort to correct the problems partially addressed by Virtus.
I know threads like this end in serious brawls, with plenty of bruises, and black eyes. Figured I’d point out Virtus and get out of here before getting clobbered by one of my Christian brothers or sisters.
Ok, but just so you know, 246 was mainly addressed to Dr. Scarpetta. I only pinged you because I quoted you.
I also realize that you pulled the idea that I willingly avoid the truth out of your butt.
How much was fairy faggotry?
They never say..neither media nor clergy
Ridiculous
It’s nearly exclusively a homosexual pederast issue
Astounding reactions on this thread, aren’t there?
You would think even if Roman Catholics don’t care about the health and safety of other people’s children, they would at least be concerned about the welfare of their own children in a church that recognizes rapists as “another Christ.”
Here’s the show online...

This site obviously definitely won't say, since it is a gay blog.
The RCC is not making any serious attempt to curtail this problem as long as Crimen Sollicitationis is still in effect.
Is it possible for you to make a post that makes sense or is that too much to ask?
I really have no idea what you’re raving about.

Then tell us your thoughts.
After you’ve watched the show you can tell us your thoughts.
Until then, it’s all hot air and bile.
I don’t support PBS. I’ll leave that to you.
So you’re commenting on something you know nothing about.
You haven’t seen the PBS show and you’re not going to watch it, but you feel obliged to trash those who have seen it.
Kinda like how Roman Catholics understand Scripture — they don’t read it so they don’t get it.
Got it.
Noted. Thanks, Dr. E., for your labors to expose Truth.
I know that PBS is as leftist as the day is long. You obviously support it; you’ll probably write them a check after this.
So if the NY Times is a credible source in your book, I’m sure you’d like to know they did an exhaustive study in approximately 2002 which came to the conclusion that 2-1/2 percent of priests had been accused and/or convicted of child abuse from 1950 to that time.
That means 97-1/2 percent of priests were godly men doing the work they had been ordained to do.
BTW, sexual abuse of children happens in the protestant church as well as the education system....only the rate of occurrence is a shocking 10 percent.
