Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Tuesday credited Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) for making "the right decision" with her veto of the so-called "birther bill," which would have required presidential candidates to submit their birth certificates in order to qualify for the ballot.

Legislation like this has been offered in a number of state legislatures across the country, driven by persistent speculation in some quarters that President Obama was not born in Hawaii. No similar law had gotten as far as a governor's desk, however.
McCain, Obama's 2008 Republican rival, said in a message posted to Twitter Tuesday afternoon that he was "proud" of Brewer "for her veto of the 'birther bill' - it was the right decision."

I am not questioning Brewer’s explanation but that is not why McCain praised her. No wonder Megan is such an idiot.
McKennedy is the only life form in the entire multiverse for whom I despise more then the Obamabutt.
Go away, John....
You are irrelevant, and so are Cindy and Meghan.
I vetoed HB2177 yesterday and I would like to take a moment to explain why I made that decision. The bill would have granted sole power to the secretary of state, a county recorder or a city clerk to arbitrarily remove any candidate from the ballot in any federal, state or local election. As a former secretary of state, I do not support designating one person, at their own discretion, as the gatekeeper to determine who can and cannot appear on the ballot, which could lead to arbitrary or politically-motivated decisions in future elections.
In retrospect, I think it would have been better if Juan had become a Democrat and run with Lurch in 2004.
We would have eliminated him before amnesty, before 2008 election and wouldn’t be stuck with him now as senator until 2016 with his worthless, annoying daughter.
“...for whom...”
What idiot writes like that?
Mea culpable.
This from the A** who was born on foreign Panama soil. Good ole’ clown jester McCain.

Oh man this skagg is always on the side of the left.
FUJM
Trump could pick Arnold for VP to make that very point.
And yes, I support such legislation, but the details need to be more specific.
Circumcision certificate?
That's nuts!
You either have a valid BC, or you don't.
True, well, the possibilities are endless. Literally, anyone could run and say they were born in the US, and since they don’t have to prove it——wonder why it hasn’t been done before.
Everything else that follows is unapplicable to the case of Obama. According to government officials in Hawaii, Obama does have a long form birth certificate.
The first is that the original so-called "long form" birth certificate described by Hawaiian officials as a "record of live birth" absolutely exists, located in a bound volume in a file cabinet on the first floor of the state Department of Health. Fukimo said she has personally inspected it twice. The first time was in late October 2008, during the closing days of the presidential campaign, when the communications director for the state's then Republican governor, Linda Lingle (who appointed Fukino) asked if she could make a public statement in response to claims then circulating on the Internet that Obama was actually born in Kenya.
Before she would do so, Fukino said, she wanted to inspect the files and did so, taking with her the state official in charge of vital records. She found the original birth record, properly numbered, half typed and half handwritten, and signed by the doctor who delivered Obama, located in the files. She then put out a public statement asserting to the document's validity. She later put out another public statement in July 2009 after reviewing the original birth record a second time.
Brewer is full of sh*t. She and McCain are protecting Obama. The bill is far from worthless. Brewer is not interested in holding Obama accountable under the US Constitution. Defending her is pure stupidity or worse.
Does she know he doesn't have one? Does she know pursuit of his long form will cause 'embarrassment' to the President, (as stated by his attorneys in one of the eligibility laesuits).
It's an albatross around her neck, IMO.
I agree. It was disappointing. Also, Jan Brewer disappointed me greatly.
Screw McCain and screw the Republican party if they ever put him up for the presidency again.
Two tyrants and traitors singing Kumbaya....
