Donald Trump fired back at Karl Rove on Tuesday for labeling his possible White House bid a joke, saying the one-time senior adviser to President George W. Bush should be ashamed of himself for the role he played in pushing an agenda that turned voters against Republicans and paved the way for the Obama presidency.
Mr. Trump, the billionaire real estate developer and reality-TV-show star still weighing a 2012 race, said in an interview that the Republican brand was so tarnished after the Bush-Rove years that even Abraham Lincoln couldnt have beaten President Obama in the 2008 presidential race.
Honestly, Karl Rove ought to go back and start thinking about other things because what he did is, he gave us, indirectly through President Bush, he gave us Barack Obama, Mr. Trump said in an interview on The Washington Times-affiliated America's Morning News radio show. In all fairness to [Arizona Sen.] John McCain, nobody could have won that election because of what happened with Roves policies or Bushs policies.
In the wide-ranging interview, Mr. Trump also came out strongly against raising the federal debt ceiling, saying the debate over whether to raise the governments borrowing limit was the strongest negotiating point the Republicans have.

When we say that Palin is especially vulnerable there is more than this that the Left has planned for her if she decides to run. “Get used to it”.
100% true, and Fox News should not be giving the political operative Rove a platform from which to spew his manipulations and distortions daily, tearing down candidates he doesn't like and building up the Beltway elite approved candidates he does like.
And Rove is "The Architect" all right, the architect of the biggest nose dive in Republican fortunes in living memory, moving the party from one of its strongest positions ever after the 2004 election to one of its weakest ever after the 2008 election. W's second term was a disaster and "The Architect" gets prime 'credit'.
Good point, LFR. What the hell is a “real Conservative”? It’s a double entendre for those of us who are.
According to the International Business Times,
“Trump filed for corporate bankruptcy in 1991, 1992, 2004, and 2009.”
BTTT! That is the exact thing I said to my sister yesterday, with the caveat that we cannot know for sure just yet that there isn't some nefarious plan going on behind the scenes.
If he gets the Republican nomination, I will vote for him. But then again, I'm like Rush, I would vote for Elmer Fudd against Obama if he was the nominee.
Truer statements could not be made:
"Donald Trump is providing a blueprint here: The way to beat Barack Obama in 2012 is to just go at him." -Rush Limbaugh - Thursday, April 7, 2011

Ill tell you this. Whoever in this field takes it to Obama the straightest and the hardest and the most direct, is whos gonna win. Theyre gonna have to take it to Obama. This isnt a pussy-foot around type of election. This is not, Oh, weve got to worry about what theyre gonna say about us, weve got to worry about PR, about charges of racism. Somebodys got to be willing to take it to Obama. Its going to be about him and four more years of this stuff and well see if theres anybody in this field willing to do that. ~ Rush Limbaugh - March 25th, 2011
Donald Trump himself? If so, brilliant......
Yup...It was under the Bush administration when I realized the differences between the Republican and Democrats were inconsequential.
We were betrayed.
The only dopes they roped were the American people.
Mr. Trump, the billionaire real estate developer and reality-TV-show star still weighing a 2012 race, said in an interview that the Republican brand was so tarnished after the Bush-Rove years that even Abraham Lincoln couldnt have beaten President Obama in the 2008 presidential race.
There is quite a bit of truth in this statement. The Republican "brand" was in tatters after Bush and his Republican allies in congress spent money at a pace that would make most Democrats proud.
Still, Trump is wrong to have called Bush "evil". For all his flaws, Bush protected the country after 9-11 and made some tough foreign policy decisions that may yet turn out to have been correct.
Maybe if we'd had a better candidate than McCain we'd have stood a better chance? Still, Trump has a point here too. Bush's "compassionate conservatism" (aka: spend almost as much as a Democrat) really poisoned the well and damaged the public perception of what Republicans stood for. The biggest weakness Bush suffered was an inability to communicate his policies to the American public. Even when he was completely correct, he just couldn't get his message across effectively.
Anyway, I don't like Trump at all, but he does raise some decent points here - at least in my opinion.
The Palin worshipers on this forum had better prepare themselves for this one. It will be quite ugly for their candidate. They posted this as a non-issue yesterday, but CNN has taken charge of it and it will be trouble in the coming weeksGot your TIVO programmed for it yet? Sounds like you can hardly contain your excitement about the coming CNN Palin "expose" yourself.
Trump dislikes weakness and likes strength. He also dislikes people unable to sell their ideas or stand up to themselves.
That explains most of his political ramblings over the years.
Carter was weak.
Reagan was strong (he says he liked Reagan and has always said this).
Bush 43 was a poor salesman and couldn’t handle the media.
Obama just blows.
The effect it will have on the average non political Public may be devastating. Time will tell, like you say, but I don’t believe they will keep this down to a small level of publicity like many here think. They will paste this all over the MSM billboards from coast to coast.
One advantage (if you will) to Trump is that his skeletons have been out there for the world to see for years, making a surprise attack futile.
The only dopes they roped were the American people.
Bring it. It will pale in comparison to what the left digs up and reveals about Trump.
Honestly, Karl Rove ought to go back and start thinking about other things because what he did is, he gave us, indirectly through President Bush, he gave us Barack Obama, Mr. Trump said.
I agree.
Rove is no friend of conservatives. He serves the establishment.
Rove, you’re FIRED!
