Breaking - four taken to hospital - six year old dropped gun which fired.
One has to have the trigger pulled/held back for the weapon to fire, otherwise the safety in the trigger mechanism prohibits the firing pin from hitting the primer.
There was a thread on FR a while back explaining how weapons operate and how silly it is to claim the gun went off when it hit the ground.
Gun-just -went-off is a story to protect the kid.

Nope...was quite serious. Until we find out exactly he got this loaded firearm, throwing the owner of it in prison seems a bit premature.

I just find it odd that some here are pointing to the ethnic make up at the school, but when talking about the vast majority of the other school shootings, they don’t discuss the ethnicity or race of the shooter or make implications about their family.
And from what I can tell, those school shooters from the suburbs seem to be much more accurate shooters than this kid in Houston.

The oddity of a 6 year-old child carrying a gun to school prompted curiosity - revealed statistics and moved out into the usual areas of discord.
IMO it was preparation for the media spin.

Comparing the teenage lunatics of Columbine to a 6 year-old does not make sense. But discussing parental responsibility does.

well, he might be one of those “damien” type of children OR he may be an innocent pegged by the aforementioned.
We would need more details to ascertain whether he’s a what or a who, as in
“WTF was that?” versus “who needs a friend today?”

If you’re going to infringe on someone rights, wouldn’t it be better to infringe on a pretend right (TRT an education), rather than a real one (TRT keep and bear arms).

Indeed not. But, of course, commies and hoplophobes like the Brady Campaign (aka Handgun Control Inc.) are against Eddie Eagle and similar programs to teach gun safety to kids.
