With Donald Trump's headline-grabbing call for our President to release his birth certificate, more and more people are discussing the circumstances of Obama's birth. Although it seems likely that Obama is hiding something -- the date of birth, the place, the father -- it is highly unlikely that he is concealing a Kenyan nativity.
The President's mother, Ann Dunham and father, Barack Obama, Sr., supposedly met in a Russian language class at the University of Hawaii. The time was late September, 1960. For the official birth date of August 4, 1961 to work, and assuming that Ann carried her baby for a full term, she would have to have been impregnated sometime in mid November, 1960.
Continuing with the official story, Obama's parents were supposedly married February 2, 1961, on the island of Maui when Ann was approximately 2 ½ months pregnant. It is at this point that we lose track of the President's mother. She is not enrolled at the University of Hawaii. No one sees her (with the possible exception of self appointed best friend Neil Abercrombie, current Governor of Hawaii), and no one can vouch for her whereabouts. That is not the case, however, with Obama's father, Barack Obama, Sr.
Gregg Takiyama, Director of Community and Government Affairs at the University of Hawaii, Manoa campus, has supplied the following information on Obama Sr.'s school attendance: Dates of attendance: Fall 1959 - Spring 1962; Degree awarded: BA - Economics, Spring 1962. Classes were held throughout the year: Fall = August-Dec.; Spring = Jan.-May; Summer = May-Aug.
Apparently, Obama Sr., once he began his Hawaiian education in 1959, never took a break in his studies until he graduated in May of 1962. This is further corroborated in a letter he wrote after graduation on May 29 to his sponsor in Kenya, Tom Mboya. In it, he brags about how fast he finished his studies:
"As you know I have been able to finish my B.A. (hon.) degree and done my M.A. within three years only as contrasted to the normal four years for a B.A. and one to two years for M.A. I have therefore been able to cut on at least two years for my B.A. and Masters." Obviously, Obama Sr. was a serious student.
In the same letter, Obama Sr. says to Mboya: "...this is the time when I feel I should thank you for the help which you gave me when I was coming here." Had Obama Sr. returned to Kenya for the birth of his baby he undoubtedly would have contacted his sponsor. Yet the letter seems to indicate that this is the first time he has thanked or been in touch with Mboya since his arrival in Hawaii in 1959.
Then there are the difficulties of a trip to Kenya in 1961: the costs and the logistics. In an article in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, September 19, 1959, Shurei Hirozawa wrote of Barack Obama Sr.'s arrival in Hawaii: "The money he saved will only stretch out for two semesters or less because of the high cost of living in Hawaii, he found out. He'll work, he says, and probably apply for a scholarship." Obama Sr. had no money. He certainly wouldn't have had the money for two airplane tickets to Kenya. If that trip took place, Ann's parents would have to have paid the fare.
Since we know Obama Sr. was continually enrolled year round at the University of Hawaii, and he finished in three years' time what would normally take 5 years, any break in his studies would have necessarily been short. Any trip to Kenya would have to have been by air, as going by sea would have taken weeks, if not months.
For the birth to have taken place in Kenya, Ann would have been very pregnant and very near her delivery date when the trip was made. The distance between Honolulu and Nairobi, Kenya is approximately 10,700 miles. In 1961 there would not have been any direct flights, necessitating several stops and perhaps several overnight layovers.
We would then have the spectacle of an 18 year-old first time mother, days away from delivery, leaving the comfort and surroundings of her parents' home (with the blessing of her parents), to embark on a several day exhausting journey, only to arrive in a very third world country to deliver her baby in the primitive medical facilities common in the Africa of 1961. None of this makes sense.
When Obama Sr. was preparing to leave Hawaii for Harvard in June of 1962, he was interviewed by John Griffin of the Honolulu Advertiser. Griffin wrote: "Obama who has been away from Kenya for seven years, said he plans to go home after finishing at Harvard." There is no indication that while he was in Hawaii, Obama Sr. ever returned to his native Kenya, let alone with a pregnant wife in tow.
Finally, in the same letter of May 29, 1962 to sponsor Mboya, it is interesting to note what Obama Sr. had to say about his wife, no, not Ann, but rather his wife in Kenya: "I have enjoyed my stay here, but I will be accelerating my coming home as much as I can. You know my wife is in Nairobi there and I would really appreciate any help you may give her. She is staying with her brother Mr. Wilson Odiawo."
Even though the marriage practices of Kenya were somewhat more relaxed than those of the United States, one has to wonder if Obama Sr. would take his pregnant American wife back to Nairobi where his African wife was waiting for him and if under those circumstances, Ann would consent to go.
The facts we know about Obama Sr. from his school records, newspaper articles, and his own letter to Mboya strongly argue that once he arrived in Hawaii, he never left. If Obama Sr., the father, never traveled to Kenya it would follow that Ann, the mother, never did either.
Of all the uncertainties of our President's first year, whether or not he was born in Kenya should not be one of them.
If you had real evidence that he was born there, it would override other considerations.
But in the absence of any hard evidence, there's nothing amiss in pointing out that travel to Africa was not as easy or as common as it is today.
While such a trip would have been physically possible, it would be irresponsible to leave the impression that could have been undertaken as easily as it would today.
We already know Annie was in Kenya at the time of the birth.
What is the evidence for that?
Place of birth also is a disqualification.
hey troll................Wondering how long you will last until you get the zot. Since you suck and from your posts I guess you are what, 15-16 years old, won’t be too long.
Frank Marshall Davis had plenty of money and apparently Barry Soetoro’s grandparents could afford to send him to a private school. I think they could muster up the funds for a plane ticket. Besides how do you know it was a plane? Could have been a ship.
Sniff, sniff.....Slider, you stink.
So, if that is true, why would Barrack Obama's paternal grandparents bother going to Hawaii right after she had visited? That is what would have had to happen since Sarah Obama adamantly has said she was in the hospital when Barrack was born if she wasn't referring to a hospital in Kenya when she made the claim.
Barrack's paternal grandfather was poor and disabled. How would he and his wife paid for a trip to Hawaii? Why would they bother spending the money to go to Hawaii to see their third grandchild born?
So, you believe that Barrack's parental grandfather, who was poor and disabled at the time, along with his step grandmother shelled out the money for two people to take a trip to Hawaii to see their third grandchild born?
Sarah Obama said she was at the hospital at the time of his birth. So, that is what would have had to happen if she meant a hospital in Hawaii.
Definitely and a real dumb one... days are numbered, probably 15-16 years old, that’s my guess after reading past posts.
I studied Russian, in high school, in the 60’s My grandparents were from the Ukraine so I thought it would be a great language to learn. It was extremely difficult because you have to learn a new alphabet first. Never did become at all proficient.
As I recall, the time frame here was very short for a Semester. Something like late May until Aug 1. Obama Sr. could have signed up and and withdrew from class. And as I recall, there was no info released that he actually attended classes during this time frame.
Damn, Don! If you had spent as much time exploring the aspects of natural born citizenship you might have an article worth reading.

Trump suggested calling them “proofers”. I like that better than “birthers”.
“It is at this point that we lose track of the President’s mother. She is not enrolled at the University of Hawaii [after Fall quarter 1960]. No one sees her (with the possible exception of self appointed best friend Neil Abercrombie, current Governor of Hawaii), and no one can vouch for her whereabouts.”
They don’t see her because she’s not there. She’s age 18, gets pregnant out of wedlock by a UK national of African race in Hawaii, it’s 1961.... how do you think the parents felt? She’s estranged from parents, in addition, Obama Sr. was already married. Crime of bigamy in Hawaii; therefore both left Xmas vacation btwn quarters, most likely married in Kenya with Stanley Ann living in Kenya and Obama Sr. returning to classes at Univ of Hawaii Spring 1961 as his transcript shows.

“Obama Sr. had no money. He certainly wouldn’t have had the money for two airplane tickets to Kenya. If that trip took place, Ann’s parents would have to have paid the fare.”
BOAC British Overseas Airways Corporation, allowed students, missionary and military to fly free or at reduced rates if flights weren’t full.
“The distance between Honolulu and Nairobi, Kenya is approximately 10,700 miles. In 1961 there would not have been any direct flights, necessitating several stops and perhaps several overnight layovers.”
Stanley Ann didn’t return to Hawaii, she returned to old stomping grounds Mercer Island, Washington. Routes at the time: Nairobi - Glascow - Vancouver.
“...18 year-old first time mother, days away from delivery, leaving the comfort and surroundings of her parents’ home (with the blessing of her parents), to embark on a several day exhausting journey, only to arrive in a very third world country to deliver her baby in the primitive medical facilities common in the Africa of 1961.”
She’s already in Kenya estranged from parents. Two missionaries witnessed a distressed white girl named Stanley who was denied boarding a plane for return trip because of her late pregnant condition. Coast Provincial General Hospital in Mombasa had trained staff British Colonial Service.
And Stanley Ann would often leave the comfort and surroundings of her parent’s home, by living in Mercer Island attending Washington University alone away from parents, and years later, the independant woman would again repeat her previous behavior — marry a foreigner, and go live abroad in another third world developing country, have another child, Maya.
Running off to a foreign country, while seemingly rare to those who live stagnant existence, is actually commonplace for a certain crowd, and holds adventure and romanticism to those who have lived abroad and met similar people in their travels. There are married women traveling alone in Europe, there are people that run off abroad all the time. Doesn’t always make sense, but it most assuredly does happen.
What doesn’t make sense is how the media potrays Obama Sr. and Stanley Ann as a couple when they never lived together and were separated clearly early on. And then Stanley is alone back at her old childhood place at Mercer Island shortly after giving birth. Whether or not Zero is with her is unknown. Perhaps he was with step-Granny Sarah for a short time, who Zero is close with to this day.
There is also no account of where Stanley Ann was after leaving Univ of Washington Spring 1962 until starting back at Univ of Hawaii Spring 1963.

Can be skewed around as “poofers” another pejorative.

Obamas grandmother throws party
A day after being awarded an honorary doctorate by a local university US President Barrack Obamas grandmother hosted a party at her Kogelo home in Siaya on Tuesday.
Two bulls, three sheep and four goats were slaughtered for the many visitors who trooped to the home to congratulate the 88-year-old grandmother for the honour.
Mama Sarah Obama was awarded a honorary Doctor of Letters by the Great Lakes University of Kisumu on Monday for her role in helping widows and orphans at her Kogelo village.
A similar feast had been organised after Mr Obama ascended to the White House.
The day is now marked with cultural activities annually.
Mama Sarah appealed to the public to dedicate their time and effort to ensuring that they take care of orphans and the vulnerable people in the society.
This is a show of blessing from God, since I have always dedicated my time to tend to the orphans. Even the US president passed through my hands, added the grandmother.
Siaya DC Boaz Cherutich accompanied Mama Sarah from Kisumu to Kogelo for the celebrations.
The Obama Kogelo community chairman Mr Vitalis Aketch Ogombe hailed Mama Sarahs efforts in helping orphans.
