Those in the military have been trained/taught for years that to not report the signs or threats of suicide are essentially complicit in the suicide.

It’s better to report it and get the person on the “couch” so to speak rather than not.

There is virtually no ability for those who suspect such an action to intervene before the fact.

It is also possible that a person who is intent on suicide will homicide you if you intervene at moment, then commit the act.
