The eurosceptic and anti-immigration True Finns have taken nearly a fifth of votes in Finland's general election, reflecting a trend across Nordic and Western European countries.
The phrase "rise of the far-right" has been used - though in each country the parties concerned have their own characteristics and do not necessarily fit the conventional "far-right" description.
Here we record the electoral status - and political influence - of some of the most succesful nationalist/ anti-immigrant parties in Europe.

Teutons are revolting.
They did keep even the Roman legions away. No small feat back then http://www.livius.org/te-tg/teutoburg/teutoburg01.htm
Good job Europe (other than the true racists): We Americans welcome the Rest!
You are so correct. Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, Van Jones, and the guy who embraced them and who now sits in the White House are radicals. People who want to preserve the sanctity of their way of life and who want to protect their countries from the threat of aggressive immigration by those who don't want to assimilate are not, in any way, radical or ‘far right’.
Further, the Nazis had much more in common with the left than with conservatives. The Nazis put state before family, state before individuals, and promoted socialism (i.e. National Socialists). That we let the left put Hitler and his ilk on one side of a manufactured political spectrum, put conservatives on the same side of that spectrum, and themselves on the opposite side is a travesty.
As you stated, ‘words do mean something’, and you can't just sit back and let the other side define you with their words. We will not prevail unless and until we put the left on the constant defensive.
Europe must stand on its own two feet—or learn to live on its knees.
They can’t depend on the good ‘ol U, S, of A.
We’re done.
BBC:And the problem is?
Europe: Nationalist resurgence
'Series'. It's completely STOO-PID™ to think that Poles, Germans, Czechs (aka: Bohemians), Italians and even .. the French, will forget about their heritage and separate and singular unique histories so some unelected nitwits in Brussels can demand they all sit around and sing Kumbaya (language to be determined by committee). /s
Eurosceptic? They have a blood infection?
Finn’s are tough people and have been fine soldiers.
My mother’s ancestors were from Finland. She grew up in Minnesota. She and my father met in DC just before he was shipped to Europe during WWII. When he came home he sent her a train ticket and the evening she arrived in TX they were married. That was 65 year ago.
If you have any doubt about tuff Finn soldiers are look a the history of Simo Häyhä also known by the Russians as the White Death.

Unfortunately MOST of the press still adheres to outdated ideological descriptives, such as far-right, which to them only means “nationalistic” and therefore “racist.” They make no attempt to distinguish the actual political agendas in terms of the amount of centralized governmental control. It’s particularly ludicrous when one considers that the former Soviets were extremely Nationalistic....and only practised “internationalism” in terms of spheres of influence.
Maybe now the Finns can take back Karelia that was stolen by the Soviets in 1940.
(1) I've always meant to get one since I've had my C&R license but 'other stuff' always comes up)
“Eurosceptic? They have a blood infection?”
Nah, that would be the “Euroseptics”...
Good for them. Means we may have hope as well.
“...known by the Russians as the White Death...”
They called him “Belaya Smerta” which was a term in general for Finn snipers, but for Simo in particular.
He took a grim toll of commie troops with his modified Mosin-Nagant (ironic, isn’t it? using the commies’ own guns to kill them...what a concept.)
He’s a hero of mine. Thanks for posting.
I feel great admiration for all men who will fight to be free and contempt for those who wish to enslave us.
Here is one of my favorite articles on the subject:
“Born American, But in the Wrong Place" By Peter W. Schramm

That says it all...great article, Texas. Thank you. Pinging some friends to the article as well.

No matter where we came from or how we got here...
We're from a hundred different tribes, from all across the world...as different as we all are, we all have at least one thing in common:
Our people came here because wherever they were before, at that time, it really sucked, in one way or another.
So they up and left. They voted with their feet, and came to a place where their kids could do a little better, get a little something nicer and have a better life than what their previous state of existence promised.
They looked over the horizons, across the waters, and saw a light shining. That was America. And it drew them here - by foot, by horse, by boat, by train, by airplane. Crawling if necssary, dodging men with guns, searchlights, dogs, and tanks.
Many of them got down on their knees and prayed upon reaching these shores...some even kissed the ground.
They didn't “run away” - they ran TO something better. They weren't cowards - they were fed-up, pissed off, pissed-on, oppressed, repressed, regulated, and subjugated folks who, one day, simply said “F*** y'all” and picked up what few meager possessions they could carry and left.
They were braver than those who stayed - they KNEW they'd be killed if they were caught, and they did it anyway.
What they left was one form of totalitarianism or another - it doesn't matter what timeline it was, because all jackboots ultimately look and act the same.
And we have the jackboot here, now, because some of those jackboots followed the long lines of refugees and subtly infiltrated in amongst them, and brought that same poisonous, sick ideology to sprout here like venereal disease. And some jackboots are just plain homegrown.
All throughout history, there have been those who would impose THEIR vision of “how things should be” on the rest of us. And all through history, there have been those who stood up to them and resisted - often at a dearly-paid price.
But the one difference between then and now is America. For the most part, this country was FOUNDED and largely comprised of the same sort of blood and mentality that ALWAYS stood up to those who would try to rule over us.
On April 19, 1775, a small group of men who called themselves "Americans" - despite the fact that a certain rotund piece of English fecal matter with a crown thought otherwise - dared to raise a gunpowder and ball equivalent of a giant middle finger to that same crown, and to the rest of the world as well. That simple act of gathering to impede the progress of the Jackboot announced, in no uncertain terms, that from here on out, things were going to be different. No more bowing down. No more "by your leave". No more subjugation, without a world of pain coming back at those who would try to subjugate. That simple act of armed bravery and courage forever changed the equation between those who attempt to ride, and those who refuse to be ridden.
We own guns. We believe in fair play. We believe in everybody having at least an equal shot at getting a better life - not some ridiculous forced equal outcomes scheme created by jealous manipulative idiots who couldn't produce a single coherent, intelligent thought from an entire encyclopedia.
We believe that a man's home is his castle, his family is his treasure, and his private property is the reward for a lifetime of working hard - and it is HIS property to pass to his heirs, regardless of whatever designs some useless parasite of a bureaucrat has on it.
We're Americans, and we don't play socialism.
Socialism is the amoebic dysentery of wealth and prosperity, and those who espouse socialism are little better than thieves and criminals.
Interesting to note that it appears the sole definition for “right wing” in this article is your stance on immigration. As in, if you don’t want immigration from the Muslim world, then you are right wing which is code for racist. While we here in America that are called “right wing” do agree with their stance on this issue as far as we don’t want people here who don’t want to assimilate into the culture. The right wing here is about political and economic freedom and liberty. Far more than an immigration issue. I wouldn’t assume all these parties in Europe want that.
i guess i should go back and read the article link...but i doubt that it could much expound that most excellent Hale rant...8^}
