Bill Levitt, the innovative builder (ex-Navy SeaBee) behind affordable suburban housing, summed unions up well with these statements:

Unions exist for the protection of the slowest and least efficient worker.

All men are created equal but all men are not equal. Some are more talented and some compensate for their lack of talent by working harder. As for those neither talented nor hardworking, that's where unions come in.
