Repealing the 1099 Reporting Requirement: A Big Win for Small Business
The White House Blog ^ | 4/17/11 | Administrator Karen Mills

Ed. note: This was originally posted on the Small Business Administration blog.

Today, President Obama signed a law that removes the expanded “1099” reporting requirement from the Affordable Care Act. This is a big win for small businesses.

The SBA and President Obama supported repealing this provision, which would have required businesses to send 1099 forms for all purchases of goods and services over $600 annually. With this bipartisan effort, we have removed a requirement that would have been an undue barrier to small business growth.

The many benefits of the health reform law for small businesses remain in place. These tools are already helping small business owners find more affordable and accessible coverage for themselves and their employees.

they add all kind of nasty surprises in the bill that “must be passed to see what’s in it” then they want credit for removing one of them?

What an age we live in.

Exactly. Obama creates and enacts the legislation then takes credit for eliminating provisions. What a guy!

The arsonist who sets a forest ablaze gets credit for putting out a campfire.

” they add all kind of nasty surprises in the bill that “must be passed to see what’s in it” “

If memory serves, this was one of the provisions that we knew was there *before* Obamacare passed - and our feeble mewl of protest was duly ignored by the Dems who passed it, and, in turn, Obama who signed it into law....

To recap - we knew it was there, and we tried to tell ‘em it was a bad idea — and now, almost a year and a half later, they figure out that we were right all along, and they rescind it, and *THEY* claim the ‘hero’s credit’ for ‘fixing’ the law....

Sheesh......

A smart Republican Congress wouldn’t have passed this law - getting rid of the 1099 fiasco. Taking pain out of obamacare only makes it more difficult to get rid of the whole thing...

The Reps made a big mistake in allowing this change to be made. You don’t repair something that should be discarded in its entirety. Let the full pain of the system manifest itself.

What was the point of the 1099 regulation anyway? Were they trying adding a tax on those exchanges or just trying to track money at a really finite level?

Hussein signed the job-crushing 1099 form requirement INTO LAW.

He and his butt kissers in the media and the Congress can shove it. Pretending like he wants to repeal it now....what an idiot.

"The arsonist who sets a forest ablaze gets credit for putting out a campfire."

I was thinking the same thing. This is not a "big win" for anyone; it's akin to the removal of but one cancerous tumor from a patient that has 40 of them. If the whole damn thing isn't repealed it's a Communist victory over freedom. The Republicans should make Obama eat this disgusting law, in its entirety. The people are behind them, but they're just too damn stupid to know it, or too cowardly to do it. A vast, powerful political movement has started, (the Tea Party), because the President is a tyrant and most of us get it. Pity our elected RINO leaders don't get it. Oh well, I guess we can't expect a man who weeps at the drop of a pin to stand up against a thug like Barry Soetero.

They said it would bring in a bazillion dollars.

Let's make sure they take any other attachments to this out....like the 10,000 people to be hired at ridiculous government salaries to log the crap.

A smart selfless Republican Congress wouldn’t have passed this law - getting rid of the 1099 fiasco.

If you are saying they shouldn't have passed the 1099 thing so as to force the issue; exactly, and ditto for #9. The whole intent of ObamaCare is to put control of our health in centralized government's power. This was obvious from the start, and was perpetrated using the "crisis" of unaffordable healthcare (there were numerous other ways to resolve the "crisis"). Although they gave a show, Republican politicians shed no tears over the passage of ObamaCare since it only creates more apparent work, or importance, for them, ad infinitum, just as much as Democrats.

They know this. They are lawyers. They know their importance, and their demand, depends on the imposed laws of manipulation.

This is what the Tea Party fight is about.

This is considered a "win"?

By which propaganda agency?

We are supposed to prostrate ourselves in slavish gratitude for having a state of affairs that had existed for decades restored to the way it was?

We are supposed to collapse out of relief that the all-powerful, all-seeing, all-knowing government has perhaps seen .75% of the error of its' ways and in this quite exceptional, indeed unique instance, agreed to reverse its course? Is this supposed be a trend of regulatory relief we extrapolate from this particular example of one?

This is Stockholm syndrome, and attempting to conduct a private business under this regime is an exercise in wondering what diktat you are about to violate next, about what new state of affairs or what law you will be in violation of tomorrow. About what new proclamation you will have to conform to, if it doesn't flat-out obsolete and destroy entirely the underlying methodology of your business.

And that is why "nobody" will start or expand a business under this regime. And that is why this economy is and will continue to be a zombie other than computer-driven stock trading.

He and no one else can nullify any part of 1099. It was passed in totem with no severability clause.

Since there is no severability in obamacare, can’t it now be argued in court that the entire 2000+ pages are now also deemed “repealed”???
