Obama lifts 1099 tax reporting burden

President Obama on Thursday signed into law a bill repealing the healthcare reform law's 1099 tax reporting requirement, the first provision of the Democrats' law to get the ax.

The Senate passed the law, 87-12, on April 5. The Republican controlled House cleared it in March.

The process of repealing Obamacare has begun.

The onerous and poorly thought-out requirement that businesses send each other 1099 forms had absolutely nothing to do with healthcare "reform" and was only another insidious way of letting the government get its nose in the affairs of private business. Opposition had to be overwhelming to get this kind of Democratic support for repeal in the Senate.

This should be a teachable moment - this is what it will take to convince Dems to repeal Obamacare, only the next piece will doubtless be harder.

A stinging defeat for Pelosi and Reid to have their precious Obamacare bill taken apart bit by bit. This is what failure looks like.

Actually, I think this was a mistake. We should repeal all of it, or none of it. If you start taking it apart piece by piece, you'll just eventually placate enough of the people who are complaining the loudest about those particular problems, while leaving the "meat" of the legislation in-tact.

Small businesses are pissed about parts of Obamacare that have to do with 1099 reporting? Good. Let 'em stew a while, and eventually we'll get rid of all of it.

Repealing this was a mistake. Carving off onerous bits and pieces of the law will only help to make the law palatable and keep it in play longer.

Tax reporting requirements in the area of capital gains have been revved way up, beginning in January of this year. And I haven’t heard a damned thing said anywhere about THAT, except from my broker.

“Hey, we know this bill will go over like a lead balloon, but if we put some things in it that are so ridiculous, so outrageous, so utterly stupid that they will obviously be removed piecemeal, we can maybe keep this turd floating long enough so that major parts go into effect and can never be completely overturned ...”

So barry is happy to announce he’s helping the small businessman by cutting down on paperwork HE wrote into the bill in the first place?

The 1099 requirement was put in so that Congress could pretend to get more tax money from it and then immediately spend it for Obamacare. Did Congress remove that spending also, or had the 1099 requirements served there purpose of creating phantom revenue and were no longer required?

Now the Democrats could even pass the requirements again and get even more phantom revenue to spend.

I’m a 1099 myself originally, then city hall in it’s infinite wisdom surprised me with a business tax that categorized me as a business, instead of contractor. There were instances which cash was to be paid to avoid you know who and what but that’s another story.

Taking out the 1099 requirement will allow the 16,000 new IRS agents more time for coffee breaks and audit vendettas against political enemies ...

Let me get this straight: The House passed it, the Senate passed it, Obama signed it and HE’S the one who brought the relief. Do I have that correct?

Rather white of him, huh?

While trying to pretend he is a friend to small business by backing off on this crazy idea, he is out there pushing for a big tax increase on small businesses that make more than $250,000 a year, and pay personal tax rates. Under Barry’s Amerika, countless small businesses will pay higher tax rates than the largest mega-corporations.

That should have been a 2000 page bill and in the middle of it somewhere a repeal of the ObamaCare bill.

Lol, wouldn’t that have been funny.
