Does he think we're that stupid?

No, he's figured out something better: That 25% of the right wing are single-issue birthers who will pledge undying, eternal love to anyone who gives their pet issue a national forum.

The cult doesn't care what he's ever done or what he's ever said. He loves them now. And they love him.

Trump says he is likely to run

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. - Donald Trump said Friday there is a ''very good possibility'' he will announce a $100 million campaign for the White House next month. Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura said, with Trump at his side, that he would consider endorsing him for the Reform Party nomination.

Announcing support for Trump now would ''put the cart before the horse,'' Ventura said.

''Certainly, if he announces that he will be a candidate he will certainly get my full consideration,'' said Ventura, the Reform Party's highest-ranking public official.

Former Republican Pat Buchanan is seeking the party's nomination but has gotten a cold shoulder from Ventura.

Trump said he wanted Ventura's backing.

''If I do decide to do this, which I very well might, Jesse's support would be very important in many ways,'' Trump said.

In a brief interview with The Associated Press, he said only ''death'' would stop him from running.

''There is a real chance that I will run,'' Trump told reporters aboard his private plane, a Boeing 727 emblazoned with his name in gold leaf, on the way to Minnesota.

At a speech to the Metro North Chamber of Commerce, Trump said, ''Maybe it's like you found out in Minnesota, it's time for straight talk and a little common sense.''

At their joint appearance, both Trump and Ventura said they were disappointed with the decision of the Commission on Presidential Debates on Thursday to only allow candidates with 15% in national polls to participate.

Ventura, whose participation in debates during the 1998 campaign were vital to his eventual election, said of the decision: ''I think it is despicable. I think it is a clear case of them fearing there could be another Jesse Ventura.''

Trump said that after watching Thursday's debate between Republican hopefuls, he thought a strong showing by a third party in a debate could have a huge impact.

''If the right person were debating against whoever the winner of that group is, it would have a major effect on the election,'' said Trump.

Trump spoke to about 500 people before the news conference with Ventura in this Minneapolis suburb where Ventura once served as mayor. The two released a written statement saying they planned to ask the Federal Election Commission to rule on a previously submitted petition that the FEC set guidelines for participation in the fall debates.

''We urge the FEC to formally take up this issue and open a public debate in which truly fair and objective debate selection standards can be developed,'' the statement said.

Trump said that if he decides to run for the Reform Party nomination, he is sure Ventura will be behind him.

Trump also said he had spoken with people about serving in his administration if he should be elected.

Former Republican Pat Buchanan is seeking the party's nomination but has gotten a cold shoulder from Ventura.

In New York City, Buchanan joked about the Trump-Ventura meeting.

''My guess is my name will come up in the conversation,'' he said, laughing. ''I know that Governor Ventura's been very critical of me or positions I've taken, as has the other gentleman, but I do think that the Reform Party has got to bring together folks who have disagreed in the past on a variety of positions if we're going to have any chance of taking over the White House.''

Buchanan said Ventura appeared to be leaning toward supporting Trump. ''He's certainly not leaning toward me,'' he joked.

Trump was to be the keynote speaker tonight at the first post-election fund-raiser - a $100-per-person affair - for the Jesse Ventura Volunteer Committee.

The governor and other Minnesota Reform Party leaders have been critical of Buchanan's conservative positions on social issues and opposition to free trade. In addition, the Minnesota leaders are openly recruiting other candidates to take on Buchanan.

I do. I have two. Michele Bachmann or Herman Cain. And those are ones who have indicated they might run.

Either of which is far, far superior to the joke candidate Trump.

In my opinion the two absolute worse choices would be Trump or Romney, with Romney slightly edging out Trump for number one worse.

But what could be more important than a birth certificate? Certainly, cutting spending isn’t as important. National security? Show us the birth certificate! Gas prices? Show us the birth certificate! Economy going to hell? Show us the birth certificate! It’s absurd.

Right off the top, the fact that Obama’s friends are in the thick of the mideast uprisings and getting a pass. The fact that the woman being floated as Obama’s next secretary of state wants a “massive protection force” to invade Israel to protect the palestinians. Unions plotting economic chaos and suffering as a means of getting their way. Teachers unions using studens as weapons against their students.

I’m not really interested in the messenger at this point. I’m interested in the message.

The Republican establishment is working hand in hand with the MSM to discredit Donald Trump attempting to disregard an issue which he and millions of Americans have questioned.

This very same Republican establishment/MSM partnership, which is so troubled by Trump’s past positions and donations, which had no issues with promoting John McCain as it’s 2008 nominee, a nominee who embraced Democrat positions, almost switching parties a few years prior, and almost placing a Liberal as his Vice Presidential running mate. Today, this same partnership has no issues with Mitt Romney’s past. Yet, an undeclared candidate is being called out for a lack of Conservative credentials?

Trump, like numerous other Republican Party members, is far from a Conservative. But, let’s be honest here. The only reason he’s now facing attacks is the Birth Certificate issue.

Um, I think I'm one of the biggest Bachmann cheerleaders out there. People deserve the truth about Trump. He needs to be exposed.

I think you missed the part where Trump wants to go after the Communist Chinese on the trade imbalance?

Bet that you also support continued robbery by the Communist Chinese...as well as keeping Obama in office

I am A paleo birther but I know Obama isn’t going anywhere over it. Proving him ineligible today would only lead to months of trying to get congress to deal with it, then a fight lasting well past the election on how to deal with it.

Even if we did remove him, the problems are far deeper than who sits in the oval office and will continue. Trump’s blowhard statements won’t make a bit of difference.

I swear someone could post video of Donald Trump committing murder and someone else would reply 'at least he's got the balls to expose Obama'. Is there nothing in Trump's past people here won't excuse away?

If you have a superior candidate

I'll take the milquetoast Pawlenty over this fraud. If you think Bush blurred the difference between Republicans and Democrats, this guy would flip it all around. He's no more a conservative than a bag of stones.

Romney and Huckabee would be complete disasters. I'm not worried about the Huckster, but Romney does worry be because he's in tight with the party insiders and can raise a crapload of money.

I can't argue with all that is said about Trump. However, giving to these looters, if Trump all of a sudden stopped, he would be showing his hand.

A few thousand here and there is nothing for Trump. If he stopped giving, perhaps he would NOT get the inside info to bring them down.

MHO....perhaps Trump is the DEMONcrats “Trojan horse”. Just a thought.
