many hippies of the period were very engaged in changing the world, WHICH THEY DID

Yes, but unfortunately they did NOT improve it. Far from it. They helped it spiral downward into a marxist hellhole from which we have to rescue it.

Thanks for that. /s

Yes,
but unfortunately they did NOT improve it.
Far from it.

What I remember was, what was known as, the “Jesus Freaks”
It was a Counter - Counter movement

for example the Broadway play Godspell
was a much gentler answer to Jesus Christ, Superstar and Tommy

Yes, people had long hair and funny clothes, but
No Drugs, No Alcohol, No “Free Love”
It was an Honorable Answer, in Difficult Times

Yes, I remember Woodstock, I also remember
KKK Lynchings, Race Riots, White and Colored Bathrooms
Lester Maddox chasing Blacks out of
his Restaurant with an Ax Handle

I viewed Woodstock as a microcosm of the times
It was many things at once, like people,
Evil and Good, Honorable and Corrupt

Most took out of it what they brought in; Themselves
It would not be Wise to Judge the
Costume one wore to the Party

It would be an error to forget those who could not be there
because of a very difficult Service to their Country
those who Served Honorably, Responding to a Draft
those who Died, or were Missing in Action
those who were Spit on and Reviled,
just when their need for Healing was Greatest

I Remember...
Forgetting would be worse.
