Private Stephens said that he "goose necked" the man, grabbing him around the neck and dragging him towards his vehicle.
"I jumped out off the wagon and I grabbed the geezer," Private Stephens said. "It was one left, two right fists. That was it. No weapons, just my hands."
The captured man turned out to be a bomb maker and the highest ranking Taliban captured by regular British forces.
Fellow soldier, Lieutenant Martyn Fulford, said, "It tied in to our intelligence reports that there were a number of suicide bombers preparing to attack us."
When the motorcyclist came within 100 feet, a barrage of insurgent gunfire opened up from behind, pinning the British soldiers down and allowing the bike to speed off
Lieutenant Fulford said, "The driver put his foot down and it was a race towards Highway 1. If he reached the Tarmac he would have been able to outpace us and escape. We just pipped him. I had my rifle out of the turret screaming at him. Private Stephens ripped his headset off and leapt down."

I'm guessing that Private Stephens will not have to pay for his own beer for a very, very long time ;-)
Where in England did this take place...?
That’s one tough angy bloke.
LOL
Ping :-)
now tie a pig’s ear to the bugger and give a dose of his own medicine....
I think it was in one of the more Islamist sections of Manchester ;-)
Nah, just tie him up inside pig carcass staked out in the hot sun.

Yesterday modest Lee, 30, from Solihull, West Midlands - who left his weapon in the Warrior as he grabbed the fugitive by the throat - denied he was a hero and insisted: "I was just doing my job."
He made the dramatic arrest just weeks after arriving in Afghanistan.
Lee said: "My muckers were getting shot at on the ground - and I thought 'I'm not having that'."
If decisions need to be made, you don't seem to look for a consensus from a focus group of racially and ethnically diverse composition first. Thank You for also not consulting a government lawyer on the legality of horsecollaring the enemy.
They used to say that American rifleman were good shots because they had so much experience using guns on the frontier.
I think the reverse may be true in Britain. The Brits have no guns, so they learn how to use their hands.
If your first punch lands well......
Almost everything about those statements is just plain wrong.
A French soldier would have swatted at him with his white flag proving a flag can oftimes function as an offensive weapon.
If it had happened in England, Private Stephens would be pilloried.

I can just imagine him chasing down the terrorist and punching the guy hard three times and grabbing around the neck and dragging him back to the vehicle as a prisoner.
I guess to "goose neck" someone to the British troops means grabbing the person by the neck like you would a long-necked goose.
Although to me the term "goose-neck" means a type of wrist lock that is a standard restraint hold that is taught to police officers which is also known as a "chicken's head" or "chicken-wing".

Is This You Too?
A “Love Note” Sent To Jim Robinson
I do so enjoy these money raising pleas. Too bad you kicked off so many patriots back in the day that criticizing the big spending Bush was a cardinal sin on the so called conservative free republic.
Nope, I will happily continue to freeload information from this site. If the lights go dark, well, so be it...

What gets people kicked off Free Republic?
I see references to people who have been “zotted” and sense that these people got their accounts deleted for some disagreement with the management (I assume meaning Jim Robinson)?
What is serious enough to warrent getting one’s account being “zotted”?
Espousing views that are counter to conservative views will get a poster zotted. Also vulgarity or rabid personal attacks.
