A top adviser for President Obama dismisses him as a "sideshow." Former Bush adviser Karl Rove calls him a "joke candidate."
But that hasn't stopped Donald Trump, who has captured national attention with his outspoken skepticism of Obama's citizenship, from surging in early presidential polls. He leads all potential GOP presidential candidates by nine points in a Public Policy Polling survey released Friday. He trailed only Mitt Romney in a NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released last week.
The real estate mogul and star of NBC's "The Apprentice" says he's encouraged by the polls, but won't make an announcement about his plans for a presidential bid until June. Yet he'll be in Florida this weekend to speak at a Tea Party Tax Day rally in his first political trip since he began making waves with talks of a possible presidential bid.
Despite Trump's early strong showing, many still aren't convinced of his electability and analysts say he will have to go beyond the so-called "birther" cause and define himself for Republican primary voters on social, fiscal and foreign policy issues.
Cary Covington, a political science professor at the University of Iowa, attributes Trump's high poll numbers more to a weak Republican field than to Trump's strengths as a potential candidate.

Trump also supported back in 2000, eliminating the public debt, school choice, strict border security, increased military spending, the death penalty and allowing citizens to opt out of social security.

I can't think of anything Romney did in Massachusetts that was conservative. And, if he did anything conservative, it was with knowledge he was running for President.
But, I agree that Trump fails as a conservative on several key issues.
It's past time someone like Rush or Hannity asked him about his support of Canadian-style socialized health care.
The hair does sort of resemble Trump’s...
I want to know what Trump is going to replace Obamacare with and if he has market solutions to the problem of exploding health care costs. He needs to address that issue.
This is one issue he is going to have come up with conservative solution if he wants to remain a viable candidate.
His changed positions may be indicative but he is addressing the issues and Soetoro/Obamas flaws more strongly than the other potential candidates. Why do they not follow suit if they hope to win?
You mean other Republican candidates? I'd guess because many have been brainwashed into thinking you have to play nice with Obama to win.
Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann aren't holding back on Obama.
I have a slightly different question in which I view this election...
and that is... 'who will make the best case to FIRE the current employee'.
Ok. I did. And I don't buy it.
If only because Trump is too much of an egomaniac to be a puppet of George Soros.
Is a person who can be so brainwashed good presidential material at present?
I've had my current tagline for a few days now, but you stated my meaning more accurately. I will have to update it.
So, you're saying Trump bought into all that "Hope 'n' Change" stuff?
Meaning either he wasn't paying as much attention as the average FReeper or that he was gulled with the rest of the "moderates". That kind of gullibility doesn't speak very well for Trump, either. No better than it spoke for McCain...

For a guy who prides himself on no-nonsense deal-making, that kind of gullibility doesn't speak very well for Trump. No better than it spoke for McCain...
MSM dedicates air time to Trump’s shenanigans, effectively pulling the “conservative” electorate to-and-fro. Likely purposed to demoralize Obama’s opposition into selecting an “electable ObamaLite” candidate like Mittens RomneyCare, Huckabee, or another RINO. Too early to tell who they will try to shove down our throats...
haha hint hint!
Well,...I got thru part of that thread...sounds like she was doing Good!
Can you provide us some links as to which of our candidates running in 2008 recognized marxist tendencies of the Kenyan?
Exactly right.

I wouldn’t use the word, “puppet”...maybe just two people with the same goals?
Just keep it in the back of your mind.

Why should I? I never claimed as much.
Instead, I claimed that the average FReeper had figured it out -- in sharp contrast with Mr. Trump, who was as oblivious as McCain.
PT Barnum was right.
Yeah, that great negotiator also told Rush he’s in favor of ‘reaching across the aisle’. Where have we heard that before?
