The old “lock in a sock.” Very dangerous improvised weapon, easily fatal if delivered by surprise with a full swing.
In my new book, an improvised weapon is a big steel hex nut on a yard of paracord. Fatal.

I guess I’m a bad person.
I didn’t really need to read the article to know the gist of the story.
I guess that makes me a bad person. That’s what they would say, those who are trying to blind us to reality.

Having attended an all black public high school I can tell you first hand that fights are not boys will be boys type of events. They are brutal gang assaults that often lead to serious long term injury or death.
I narrowly escaped such a gang style beating in an area of the school where no staff was present to help me.
They are feral youth with zero respect for life. You can’t reason with them, they only understand violence.

McLaurin loves singing so much that she once auditioned for the "American Idol" TV show. Great way to draw attention to a run-of-the-mill assault story...who hasn't auditioned for 'American Idol' at some point?

After all he did tell them to bring a gun to the fight.

That’s so sad! I’m sorry you had to live through that in your school years.... I blame the parents for not expecting respect from their children! Then it just becomes a vicious cycle.

Given what’s listed in the “Popular Pix” box to the right of the story, who can be surprised? Morality and ethics have long since become a very small portion of American culture.

Poor Shacara, looks like a decent young lady with some talent.
That trash was just too jealous to let her get ahead.
Get well soon girl, and prove them wrong.

I blame the parents for not expecting respectYou have to understand, the parents are in absentia. The children are raised by the gangs they join.

Yet another example of shoddy journalism, as the headline hype reads
'American Idol Contestant Brutally Beaten', yet there is no mention of the program until the article's last sentence, which states:
"McLaurin loves singing so much that she once auditioned for the "American Idol" TV show."Perhaps I'm putting too fine a point on it, but I think an audition is a far cry from what the sensationalize headline suggests...
Mainstream journalism is truly dead in this country.

Oops — make that the article’s penultimate sentence, not the last one.
