Vote to Defund Planned Parenthood Fails in Senate 42-58
American Catholic ^ | 4/14/11 | Paul Zummo

Predicted Republican defections, though I believe we forgot about RINO wimp Mark Kirk.

Oh, and Mr. Pro-Life Democrat himself Bob Casey Jr. voted as I thought he would, as did the Nelson twins. Quelle surprise.

Budget cuts of 2 cents or slightly higher. Planned Parenthood funded indefinitely. ObamaCare marches on. Good thing the GOP won that last election . . .

"Good thing the GOP won that last election . . ."

Yes, the GOP won most of those last elections, giving it control of 1/3rd of nonjudicial branches of government. That's it.

Even if the Senate would have passed this, Obama would have vetoed it.

Planned Parenthood kept its funding even while the GOP had both houses of Congress and the Presidency. Why? Because the GOP needs a super-majority to completely defund Planned Parenthood, or virtually any of the pet Democrat projects. That's called political realism.

Of course, political realism works both ways. The Dems had both houses and the Presidency, and yet they didn't pass a single anti-gun bill, or reverse the Partial Birth Abortion Ban. How about that?

Rush was saying today that Boehner and the GOP should have been all over this thing when 0bama threatened to veto a bill that would have funded the troops. "The democrats are putting government funding of abortions ahead of the troops!"

They should have hung this thing around Zer0's neck until 2012. Instead they caved.

I apologize for such a stupid question but could someone can tell me why the GOP were so proud to force the senate to vote on these 2 topics, knowing full well that they will vote no? Yeah..stupid question...if here is a scale to judge OUR stupidity from what they think how stupid we are...boy..are we stupid!!!

5 Republican defections: Brown, Collins, Snowe, Kirk and Murkowski (thank you Alaska!). The GOP would need to replace an additional 15 Dems with conservatives (and/or replace a number of the RINOs) to have even a marginally conservative caucus and about 25 to have a solid conservative majority. That’s how far the GOP Senate caucus is from being a truly conservative caucus.

Mark Kirk is a disgrace. One of the more conservative challengers should have immediately went 3rd party, as the IL Senate primary back in 2010 was way up in February and none of the conservative challengers had a chance.

And this was a surprise to whom, Mr. Speaker?

I think the goal was to push a few “supposedly” pro life bluedogs into a vulnerable position before their next election.

Can someone please tell me exactly what percentage of the federal budget goes to planned parenthood?

I’d like to know how many kids I’m killing each year. Thanks

The House should have simply forced the Senate and Goober to go along or no money at all for anything.

Collins and Snowe aren’t really Republicans. Rather, they are old biddies up to senile meanness.

Thanks for posting. This goes to show the level of work/awareness that need to be done on multiple levels. Defunding collectivist’s collectives, especially an anti-life collective should be much easier.

Lots of opportunities here.
