Ron Paul likely to enter 2012 race in May
cbsnews.com ^ | April 14, 2011 | Brian Montopoli

Libertarian-leaning Texas Republican Congressman Ron Paul has formed a so-called "testing the waters" fundraising account ahead of a possible 2012 presidential run, Paul aide Jesse Benton confirmed to CBS News.

According to Benton, Paul "is close to making a final decision and it is better than 50-50 that he will enter the race in May."

A run by Ron Paul would almost surely mean that his son, GOP Sen. Rand Paul, will not seek the presidency. Rand Paul, who shares many political beliefs with Ron Paul, has been considering a run if his father does not seek the nomination.

Benton said that Ron Paul has already raised more than $1.2 million through his political action committee "to help him weigh his political options," adding that "he has the structure in place to hit the ground running if he makes the decision to run next month." Benton is the director of Paul's political action committee, LibertyPAC.

I'm sorry, but Ron Paul is not a serious man. He gets his jollies by annoying others and peeing in the communal soup. He gets attention that way -- and political contributions.

And what's weird is that most of us can still find flaws in the candidates we support. We can see them as human beings.

The Paulbots never criticize Ron Paul. They speak worshipfully of him as if he is perfect in their eyes.

It creeps me out.

I’ll ask my good friend Jacob Rothschild at the next Council of Foreign Relations meeting, after we get done having lunch with the Illuminati and the Bilderbergers.

Oh....and do you like the direction of our country, that both parties are responsible for?

Of course not. But voting for somebody like Paul can only make it worse.

It is the political equivalent to wallowing in self-pity -- it does nothing to address the problem.

Damn right......but they won’t. Some “republicans” here want to bomb other countries out of fear to further the Military Industrial Complex. And for those who are saying, “Military Industrial Complex” is “kook” speech. Watch President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s farewell speech in January of 1961.

Personally, I hope he lives to be 100 and keeps on running every four years. He adds a certain comedic value to the whole dreary process.

Voting for the same old, tired....corporate owned, corrupt republicans will be better? So you are saying to follow the same script that has got us to this point?

You should really read the Federalist Papers.

I have a hard time supporting someone who called Reagan a failure

How was Reagan not a failure. He, like jorge bush, had a great campaign platform - smaller gov't, less regulation, lower taxes, but when he left office, gov't was far larger and far more intrusive.

Additionally, next to ded kennedy and shrub, he did more demographic damage to the US, with his amnesty without the border enforcement he promised, than any other person I can think of.

Lebanon - sent our Marines into the middle of a centuries-old conflict with unloaded weapons.

The PLO - after countless Israelis had been murdered by them, the IDF surrounds the PLO in Beirut, is ready to exterminate them, and Reagan and the French step in and "negotiate" a deal to let them go.

Afghanistan - the modern concept of international jihad came about through radicalization of muslims, by Carter and Reagan, in the proxy fight against the soviets during their war there.

Yes, give him credit for spending the soviets into oblivion but, with the way the post-cold war era has gone to date, I miss the old USSR sometimes.

Ronald Reagan and Ron Paul were good friends - Paul was one of few supporters of Reagan in '76... I'm sure it pains him deeply to speak ill (the truth) of Reagan, but look at the facts.

Ronald Reagan was, by far, the best president we've had since Eisenhower or JFK, but that don't mean he was a good one.

It’s not hard, just take an hour or so and look into Building 7 for yourself.

Or not.

He siphons votes away from conservative candidates and insures that RINOs win primaries.

He needs to sit down and shut up.

He would be better than obummer.

So would my cat Finbar.

Let's reach a little higher than someone who would be "better than Obama."

Ron Paul would be a disaster.

But he's not going to come close to winning the nomination, so I guess it's a moot point.

No,most of us want to bomb other countries out of anger, revenge, to teach their Seventh Century keisters a lesson they’ll not forget, tom blast the Satanic death cult known as Islam to Hades, and show these turd-world Krapistans what happens when they become pains in the neck to a superpower.

BTW, as a shareholder in General Dynamics, Boeing, and Lockheed-Martin, I have NO PROBLEM with the “Military-Industrial Complex”.

(BTW, Eisenhower was quite capable of dropping the ball. His failure to listen to Patton in 1945 condemned the West to almost a half-century of an expensive Cold War.)

...It helps Romney, Huckabee, Trump and other moderate/RINO types.”

No it does help the aforementioned moderate/RINO types. Many uneducated idiots take the word of Jon Stewart and other comedians to heart and they truly believe that Romeny, Huckabee, and Trump are evil, right wingers. Anyone with half a brain is not fooled. Paul is an absolute loon and will has the capacity of turning the stomachs of many.
