Ron Paul likely to enter 2012 race in May

Libertarian-leaning Texas Republican Congressman Ron Paul has formed a so-called "testing the waters" fundraising account ahead of a possible 2012 presidential run, Paul aide Jesse Benton confirmed to CBS News.

According to Benton, Paul "is close to making a final decision and it is better than 50-50 that he will enter the race in May."

A run by Ron Paul would almost surely mean that his son, GOP Sen. Rand Paul, will not seek the presidency. Rand Paul, who shares many political beliefs with Ron Paul, has been considering a run if his father does not seek the nomination.

Benton said that Ron Paul has already raised more than $1.2 million through his political action committee "to help him weigh his political options," adding that "he has the structure in place to hit the ground running if he makes the decision to run next month." Benton is the director of Paul's political action committee, LibertyPAC.

Oh Great!

First, Donald Trump.

Now, Ron Paul.

Hell, let’s get Ross Perot in on it again.

And we’ll have a perfect Tri-fecta.

The next election will be the most important election this nation has ever had. It will determine whether or not the US is going to survive as a great nation, or die, and we are going to have a gaggle of independent clowns assuring our death. Will Ron Paul be one of them?

My response to that is if Ron Paul is so great, if he truly is the politican of our time and the one to lead this country, then why can he never get more than 5 percent of the vote?

And the response back to you should have been "if the rightness or wrongness of a political candidate is determined by popular vote, why you be so hostile to prez osama? After all, he won by a landslide, don't that mean he be right?"

Thanks - if I run across any anti-zionists, I'll let 'em know.

He’s almost as old as Reagan was when he LEFT office.

It has nothing to do with that....(but I suspect you know that, too.)

Here’s the problem with the Doc:

A.) He’s a “truther”

B.) He refuses to see who the enemy really is and refuses to deal with them the way they need dealt with, (and no - its not by issuing quaint 18th Century Letters of Marque.)

C.) His supporters are a cavalcade of kooks, nuts, dope smokers, tinfoil-hat-wearing conspiracy theorists, anarchists, and uncouth poll-hijacking loudmouths who haven’t learned how to function in polite society, (i.e. NOT gentlemen.)

He can go pound salt, and it’ll be a happy day if/when JimRob ever gets rid of all the Paultards that infest FR.

Free and open debate? Or do you believe in the “fairness doctrine” that Pelosi and her friends want implement to silence talk radio? Kooks? you have no idea who we are. FYI..... I am a police officer who risks his life on daily basis to defend my fellow citizen's constitutional rights and safety.

You should read the Federalist Papers and learn about our beloved founding father's thoughts and hopes for our country. You would find that Ron Paul has more in common with them then these fake, corporate owned, sell-out, traitor Republicans. Look at our country now....it is and f’ing joke. And both parties are responsible. Be a good lil sheep and follow your dear republican leaders off of the cliff.

Omigosh, I am just breathless at this speculation. I'm all atremble with exciement.

I shan't sleep a wink until I know for sure...

Please tell me I don't need the sarcasm tag.

And you believe Ron Paul will change all that? Even in the improbable event that he won?

I'm sorry, but Ron Paul is not a serious man. He gets his jollies by annoying others and peeing in the communal soup. He gets attention that way -- and political contributions.

Do yourselves a favor - learn about Building 7, then learn about the Federal Reserve. If you dare to get the the bottom of either, you’ll be begging him to run.

LOL - no. I won't be doing any such "begging."

Thanks for playing!

I don’t think he will win. The media won’t allow it. Hell...he wins the CPAC Straw Poll two years in a row and barely gets any coverage. I would rather stand for principle than be a sell-out. Oh....and do you like the direction of our country, that both parties are responsible for?
