That is a cop-out. If you can't afford more than two children in the richest society in human history, then no one could ever afford more than two.

As a Catholic homeschooler, I know many families with 6, 7, 10 and more kids. None of them are rich in terms of material possessions. And yet somehow, they manage to produce extraordinary children who will be true assets to American society.

Exactly. It should not be up to the individual parents to determine the cutoff point for # of kids / level of financial comfort. We should use a calculus that factors in 3rd world birthrates and their standard of living, multiplied by the factor our standard of living is greater than theirs. 3 kids in a 3rd world country with a standard of living 1/3 ours translates into 9 kids for us. Any fewer than that and you are copping out.
