If you wonder whether Donald Trump is serious about running for president, tune in to the finale of The Celebrity Apprentice on May 15.
Trump plans to say on the NBC show that he will be holding a press conference in the next few days. At that press conference in the Trump Tower in New York, Trump will be announcing his candidacy for the presidency.
Even then, many will snicker that its all a publicity stunt. But that defies the facts and common sense.
Of all the people on the planet, Donald Trump is the last person who needs more publicity. And if he is riding a groundswell of support, why would heor anyone elsedecide not to run?
Since writing the first story in January to report that Trump will definitely run, I have been amazed at how much the idea of a Trump presidency is catching on across the political spectrum. As I wrote in my story, Dont Underestimate Donald Trump for President, he can be outrageous and boastful. But when it comes to a successful run at the presidency, dont count him out.

It was a shot over the GOP establishment bow.
Disappeared off the face of the earth.
” To be fair, he said hed run as an independent if he thought he would win. “
I saw the WSJ interview with Trump and you are correct.
He said he is not in the business of losing so he would have to be very confident he could actually win .
He said a third party run would trouble him , he’d prefer to remain with the Republicans and he didn’t want his actions to re elect Obama.
There is a huge number of voters out there (both rep and dem) that are sick and tired of the scum that inhabits DC and I am pretty certain that many of them would over look just about everything negative about Trump just to elect a straight shooter.
How about Ryan/West?
I don't give a F anymore...if you have courage, I'll listen.
You are twisting slightly what Trump really said.
What he really said goes something like this...F HE IS REJECTED BY THE GOP in primaries, he feels strong enough about saving the country that he can not rule out run as an Independent.
Note that Trump owes nothing to GOP since he has not received a dime from RNC or any one else.
In other words, Mr. Trump can be used as a Pitbull-on-Offense to kick the continuous crap out of the Obama-ites as a form of incessant, neverending "psy war" to keep them on defensive, wear them down, screw them up big time--over the next 9 months. Again, hopefully well regulated and within boundaries.
Then my hope is that a more conservative conservative gets the nomination. That is at least how I would tactically like to see this unfold.
You gotta believe this; inside that White House, THEY CAN NOT STAND HIM, so that means at least from the standpoint of the enemy of my enemy is my friend, I welcome his entrance into the race (just as I welcome people like Ambassador Bolton, and others who are good on foreign policy issues and are tired of the US being kicked around like a tin can and laughed at worldwide--which I can from first hand experience confirm is the case these days overseas..)

“Do tell...”
Have ‘ye the Google? ‘Tis a search engine and it’s super simple to use.
Do try it yourself, unless ‘ye be far too bizzy(or far too precious) to do your own searching...
Pretty much sums up how me and all of my friends/family feel. Sick and tired of the ruling class of scumbag MFers that call DC home.
...and it’s not as if the GOP is doing a damn thing to save the country from Obama and co anyway.
Good one!
I think Trump as an independant would steal a lot of votes away from former Obama supporters who are sick and tired of Obama but can’t bear to vote for a Republican.
I think he has a chance to win so long as the economy is the #1 concern of most Americans. I’m not throwing my vote to him - yet. But if my 3 choices on election day 2012 are Obama, Trump, and Romney/Huckabee ... I’d probably vote for Trump. Maybe he’ll start a reality show inside the White House. (Only half joking!)
mnehring's assertion is false. I recall at least two interviews that Trump did on Hannity's radio toward the end of GWB's second term. He was pretty conservative in the interviews and the distinct impression was that while Trump was by no means a great conservative in the Barry Goldwater mould, Trump was a conservative that had fallen off the reservation over opposition to the Iraq War. I distinctly remember the interviews as I had wondered about Trump's leanings for many years and the Hannity interview was the first time I knew of that he outed himself.
I have no desire to support the guy in the primaries. But outright lies about him should be questioned and called out.
Someday when we own 99% of Both houses and unemployment is at 2.5% we should run Keyes as VP on a ticket. Sneak him in that way.
Yup. Combover New Yorker smells like bald Texan.
I agree. I saw and heard some of them too.
