If you wonder whether Donald Trump is serious about running for president, tune in to the finale of The Celebrity Apprentice on May 15.
Trump plans to say on the NBC show that he will be holding a press conference in the next few days. At that press conference in the Trump Tower in New York, Trump will be announcing his candidacy for the presidency.
Even then, many will snicker that its all a publicity stunt. But that defies the facts and common sense.
Of all the people on the planet, Donald Trump is the last person who needs more publicity. And if he is riding a groundswell of support, why would heor anyone elsedecide not to run?
Since writing the first story in January to report that Trump will definitely run, I have been amazed at how much the idea of a Trump presidency is catching on across the political spectrum. As I wrote in my story, Dont Underestimate Donald Trump for President, he can be outrageous and boastful. But when it comes to a successful run at the presidency, dont count him out.

Trump doesn’t need it. But Trump, as I see it, has become as pissed as the rest of us.
I think it’s always a good idea to vote for a man or woman who doesn’t need it.

Considering that regular GOP balls look like this, I'm impressed.

1. He PLANS to run as a Republican. He also “plays to win” so I can’t see him running if it’s a losing battle.
2. His skeletons have been out for the world to see since the late 80s, there really aren’t any surprises left with Trump.

To me it reminds me of that guy who was such an overconfident jerk that got all the girls.
He was SO confident, and really didn’t care what happened, that it made the girls fawn all over him.
This is what is happening here with The Donald.

If he runs, my guess is he’ll be leading by 5 - 7 points by July 1 in most primary polls, and a couple pts ahead in the head-to-head vs. Obama.

Trump with a chick, or Trump with a black guy can win. Or a chick with a black dude. Cain’t get away from the white guilt.

If a guy has little/no ego (relatively speaking) he makes a poor candidate.
Fred Thompson comes to mind. I would have crawled over hot coals for FDT, but he just didn’t have the drive, or, methinks, the ego, to really want it.

Posted several dozen articles, links and such over the past week or so, but here are a few snippets to get you started. It could take all day to post everything..
I'm a big fan, a very big fan of the United Nations, and all it stands for. I can't speak as to what's been happening over the last number of years, because it certainly hasn't been good. But the concept of the United Nations, and the fact that the United Nations is in New York, is very important to me, and very important to the world, as far as I am concerned. So, I am a big fan. Such a fan, in fact, that at great expense, I built a building across the street. It's the tallest apartment house in the world. It's been a tremendously successful building, sold out, and I'm very proud of it. And if the United Nations weren't there, perhaps I wouldn't have built it in that location. So, it means quite a bit to me. - Donald Trump, July 2005 Before the Senate International Security Subcommittee
Soros bankrolling Trump
Trump bankrolling Democrats
Trump supporting progressive tax policy
Trump supporting and using eminent domain seizures for his own profit (ie an enemy of private property
Dems and Reps are both wrong on guns Its often argued that the American murder rate is high because guns are more available here than in other countries. Democrats want to confiscate all guns, which is a dumb idea because only the law-abiding citizens would turn in their guns and the bad guys would be the only ones left armed. The Republicans walk the NRA line and refuse even limited restrictions.

For assault weapon ban, waiting period, & background check
I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun. With todays Internet technology we should be able to tell within 72-hours if a potential gun owner has a record.
Source: The America We Deserve, by Donald Trump, p.102 Jul 2, 2000 We must have universal health care
Im a conservative on most issues but a liberal on health. It is an unacceptable but accurate fact that the number of uninsured Americans has risen to 42 million. Working out detailed plans will take time. But the goal should be clear: Our people are our greatest asset. We must take care of our own. We must have universal healthcare.
Our objective [should be] to make reforms for the moment and, longer term, to find an equivalent of the single-payer plan that is affordable, well-administered, and provides freedom of choice. Possible? The good news is, yes. There is already a system in place-the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program-that can act as a guide for all healthcare reform. It operates through a centralized agency that offers considerable range of choice. While this is a government program, it is also very much market-based. It allows 620 private insurance companies to compete for this market. Once a year participants can choose from plans which vary in benefits and costs.

I object to the flat tax:- It is unfair to the poor; eliminating the Earned Income Tax Credit [hurts] taxpayers at the lowest rungs of the ladder.
- It is unfair to workers by taxing them for health insurance and other benefits.
- Only the wealthy would reap a windfall, because a flat tax would allow them to cash in interest payments and capital gains without paying personal income taxes.
- I dont believe that a flat tax could raise enough revenue to keep the government operating.

Personally avoids sales tax, but knows many people like it
Asked to discuss the idea of a national sales tax, Trump responded: How do I feel about sales tax? I try to avoid paying it whenever possible. But the idea is an idea that a lot of people like very much.

One-time 14.25% tax on wealth, to erase national debt
Trump wants to soak the rich, including himself. He proposed a 14.25% tax yesterday on the net worth of wealthy Americans.
He said the one-time tax package would:- Raise $5.7 trillion to erase the nations debt and save $200 billion in annual interest payments
- Use the savings to save Social Security and slash taxes for the middle class
- Increase his personal tax bill by at least $725 million.

Tax assets over $10 million, paid over 10 years
Trump proposed a 14.25% tax on the net worth of wealthy Americans. People and trusts valued at more than $10 million would be subject to the new tax. The original plan called for collection in a single year but, in a last-minute change, Trump said he would allow more time for people having trouble liquefying their assets. Lets say 10 years, he said.

I support a womans right to choose, but I am uncomfortable with the procedures. When Tim Russert asked me on Meet the Press if I would ban partial-birth abortion, my pro-choice instincts led me to say no. After the show, I consulted two doctors I respect and, upon learning more about this procedure, I have concluded that I would support a ban.

Favors abortion rights bur respects opposition
Trump clarified his views on abortion, saying he favors abortion rights, but respects those who oppose his position. I believe it is a personal decision that should be left to the women and their doctors, he said.

I don’t see how a 25% tax on China helps anyone. China will impose a similar tax on American made goods we sell to them. End result is higher costs for both Chinese and American made goods passed on to you and me. Not good, IMO.

” To be fair, he said hed run as an independent if he thought he would win. “
I saw the WSJ interview with Trump and you are correct.
He said he is not in the business of losing so he would have to be very confident he could actually win .
He said a third party run would trouble him because he is a conservative Republican and he did not want to do anything
that would re elect Obama.
To: rbg81
Once the MSM turns up the heat, he may be toast in record time.
//////////////////
Media wont turn up heat and will give trump pass so he runs and destroys republican chances to beat Obama by splitting vote. Just like Perot in 1992
To: rbg81
I bet that Trump has all kinds of skeletons in his closet and theyre probably not too hard to find.
You think so?? Don't you think the media would have already been using those "skeletons" with what Trump has been saying on the issues, and his push for answers to questions that Obama should have already put to rest?
