Now we need that 54% to change the Senate and the Oval office.

Abortion is against my religion. Consequently, I should not have to pay for murdering the unborn. It’s as simple as that.

Is part of the recent 2010 budget deal that funding Planned Parenting will be a separate up and down vote in both houses of Congress? Everyone will be on record.

That is, unfortunately, a poor argument. There are dozens of religious groups that claim that war is against their religious beliefs and, therefore, should not have any of their taxes going to the military.

The problem is that there is no limit on what can be claimed as “against my religion.” Christian Scientists and Jehovahs Witness claim that blood transfusions are against their beliefs. That may be fine for an informed adult, but our laws generally recognize that a child injured in an accident who needs a transfusion to save his/her life must be given one. And a woman who needs an abortion cannot be denied one.

Courts have repeatedly denied war-resisters from not paying their taxes despite their religious beliefs. In general, I support these decisions against Christian Scientists, Scientology, anti-military churches, and other cults.
