The presidents budget deficit speech is a vague framework for saving $2,000 billion and taxing an extra $1,000 billion by 2023, but is also a brightly drawn blueprint for campaign-trail criticism of Republican candidates.
Republicans would end Medicare as we know it, do very deep cuts in health care for some of our most vulnerable citizens and seniors in nursing homes, and cut education and investments in the future, a senior administration officials said in a press-briefing prior to the speech. By calling for simultaneous tax cuts and the conversion of Medicare into a medical-voucher program, Republicans are asking 33 future seniors to pay an additional $6,000 out of their pocket, not to reduce the debt or deficit, but simply to allow one well-off person to get $200,000 each year, the adviser said.
The president looks at it another way
he feels we have to make tough choices so that we can live within our means and invest in the future, education and ensure that Medicare and Social Security remains rock-solid, the adviser said.

The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Yup. Nothing new here.
“Live within our means”, means live within your means. He means your means belong to him. Get what he means?
You got it. Blame Bush and the big spending Republicans.. and those darn extremists.. aka the TEA Party.
Obammy said.. it’s really about patriotism.
This man is a loon, a manchild..
And if we don’t end Medicare as we know it, both Medicare and the entire nation will soon be bankrupt. Obama and the Democrats would rather kick the can down the road until we can afford to give NOTHING, not even vouchers, to seniors. OTOH, this might not be a bad thing, because it would enable us to get rid of the New Deal and Great Society in one swoop.
Living within our means would mean cutting annual spending by $1.5 trillion dollars. Sounds like a good start.
And the only way out is Obama's pragmatic $1.6T deficits.
"By means of shrewd lies, unremittingly repeated, it is possible to make people believe that heaven is hell and hell heaven. The greater the lie, the more readily it will be believed."
-Adolf Hitler
"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."
- Joseph Goebbels
"A lie told often enough becomes the truth."

It looks like the socialists in our White House have been listening to the socialists of the past. Despite the White House packaging, redistributing wealth from those who create it to those who merely consume is not an investment, it's just traditional liberal tax-and-spend wastefulness. Social Security is consumption, not investment. Medicare and Medicaid are consumption, not investments. Our military is consumption, not an investment. Social Security is consumption, not investment. The FBI, TSA, and ATF Social Security are consumption, not investment. Some of these forms of consumption are worth having, in moderation, but none are investments.
Had spending remained flat since the 2006 budget (before Pelosi put us on the fast track to socialism and bankruptcy), our current (2011) revenues would roughly cover the 2006 expenditures. The extra $1.5T in spending that the far left has added? That's not investment, and there will be no return, unless you count their cronies who are being paid off to deliver the next election to corrupt bureaucrats. Unlike today's socialists, I don't consider that a good use of my children's money.
Fixed it.
That was a great episode.
There's a reason he can't look at us besides twin crutches.
He knows he'll fold if he sees the reflection in our eyes, so instead focuses on the exit doors.
If a man can't look you straight in the eye, he just aint right.
