Milt Romney forcefully said Tuesday night that he believes President Barack Obama was born in America and that "the citizenship test has been passed."
"I think the citizenship test has been passed. I believe the president was born in the United States. There are real reasons to get this guy out of office," Romney told CNBC's Larry Kudlow the day after he formally announced that he's exploring a run for the White House. "The man needs to be taken out of office but his citizenship isn't the reason why."
Kudlow asked Romney about the issue because Donald Trump - the billionaire real estate mogul - has been all over TV questioning whether Obama was really born in in the United States and is therefore constitutionally allowed to hold the nation's highest office. Trump's claims have driven the "birther" issue back into the national spotlight - and a recent Fox News poll found that 24 percent of voters believe Obama wasn't born in the United States, while 10 percent aren't sure.
In the wide-ranging interview with Kudlow - Romney's first TV appearance and press interview since announcing his exploratory committee - the former Masachusetts governor stood up for his record on health care, taxes and other issues.
Despite Kudlow's often combative questioning, Romney stuck relentlessly to his economy-and-job-creation message, refusing to criticize Ben Bernanke even as the Federal Reserve's monetary policy has become a frequent target on the right.
"I think Ben Bernanke is a student of monetary policy; he's doing as good a job as he thinks he can do," Romney said when Kudlow asked what kind of job Bernanke is doing. "I'm not going to spend my time going after Ben Bernanke. I'm not going to spend my time focusing on the Federal Reserve."
Give Mitt enough time and he’ll tell us he remembers being in the delivery room when the baby Obama was born.
Oh, really....
“MILT,...miLt???
A little voice told him especially? He can still answer questions and show documents. Eisenhower did. And he was trusted with command of weaponry and men before being asked for it when he ran.
I think it fits him better.
How does he know?
Yesterday at the Houston office of the Federal Reserve (Dallas) there were protesters with signs: “Audit and close the Fed”.
The irony here is that this was written on a site that refers to itself as "Intelligencer." LOL
So concentrate on the other issues, Mitt, issues like Obama’s Romneycare, or whatever. If others take the citizenship issue a little more seriously than you do, it shouldn’t keep you from attacking Barry on other things. This argument is nonsense.
I didn’t realize until tonight that Obama won’t release his school records. I have no problem with someone not wanting to release their medical records...but school records? The man is definitely hiding something.
Even though I shouldn’t be, I am still shocked by how the press has covered for this man...I can only imagine the outcry if Bush had not released his school records.
Man I’d like to throttle?
MiLt “believes” O bow ma was born in the US.
Yes, and for those same reasons MiLt must be kept out of office.
ObamaCare---RomneyCare--what's the diff?
You decide
Sorry Milt! In God We Trust. Everyone else needs to show a birth certificate.
I believe President Obama wouldn’t lie to us. — Mitt Romney
Maybe The Won was born in Hawaii.
In that case, what’s on his birth certificate that would be so catastrophic to him that he’s spent $2 million hiding it?
Mittens joins the ranks of the Republican numb-skulls who still don’t “get” the subtleties of NBC and the baby-daddy allegedly being a British subject. If BHO1 is a British subject, then Barry can’t be an NBC. If BHO1 is NOT the baby-daddy, then MAYBE Barry is an NBC except Stanley was not old enough to confer NBC. Hence the embarrassment of releasing birf records. Barry could have been born in Kenya, Hawaii or Mars - if both birf parents are not citizens, then NBC cannot be established whether the BC is a long form, short form, or written in crayon.
LOL! Great bumper sticker or tag line...
