Former Republican Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty told CNNs Piers Morgan Tuesday hes in the race.
Im running for president, Pawlenty said in an interview set to air Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on Piers Morgan Tonight. Im not putting my hat in the ring rhetorically or ultimately for vice president. Im focused on running for president.
Pawlenty announced the formation of a presidential exploratory committee last month.

I used to be a Pawlenty fan. A week or so ago he was on one of the evening FOX shows (Greta, I think). When asked directly what he thought of the "birth certificate" issue he said it doesn't matter where Obama was born but he's sure Obmama was born in Hawaii and is an American citizen (after all, there was an announcement in the Honolulu paper) so there is no problem with him being President (I'm paraphrasing here). It isn't an issue, nor should it be.
I went from being a Pawlenty admirer to changing the channel and vowing he would be the next to last guy I would ever vote for (Obama is the last).
Any cluck that dumb, naive, Constitutionally challenged, and uninformed (or spineless - take your pick) has no business being President. On the plus side, at least he has a nice smile and is an American.
We already have enough lethal problems with a Commie/Muslim, non-American (again, take your pick or choose all three) stinking up the White House. We need to replace him with somebody other than a pleasant clown with an "R" after his name.
Scratch Pawlenty. It would be like electing Mr. Rogers.
exactly the same 4 letters.
I don’t disagree with what you say, at least directionally, maybe with a bit more magnitude in favor of Pawlenty. I guess we were spoiled by Reagan. Who’s the Ronald Reagan in this lineup of candidates? Well, there ain’t one. OK, so who do we go for?
I find myself moving more and more toward Pawlenty, notwithstanding the propensity of some on this board to take gratuitous shots. Yeah, he’s not exciting, but...
Haven’t made up my mind yet, but absolutely not Mitt. Romneycare = Obamacare.
I thought he told us this two weeks ago.
Tell us again, Tim, this time with spirit.ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
I don’t know enough about Pawlenty.
but i do know enough about Mitt.
unless i hear a lot of bad stuff about Pawlenty, I prefer him to Mitt.
The “field” is gonna be littered with RINO’s......
Another pansy. I want Trump.
Yes, Romney is terrible. The only way he wins the nomination is if movement conservatives and Tea Party folks split their votes between multiple candidates in the primaries. If there are several candidates acceptable to the Tea Party, it is going to be pretty important to coalesce behind one fairly early - otherwise we may indeed get Mitt the way we ended up with McCain.
Again, it isn't that I don't like Pawlenty, but seriously? Is that really the best we can do? Aren't we all hungry for someone a bit more charismatic that conservatives can truly get excited about? Someone who actually directly takes on the unions, the social welfare state, etc. And it isn't enough to fight those battles, we need someone that can persuade the public and not just preach to the choir.
One problem I suppose is that some of the candidates I'd really like to see run probably won't till next cycle. I am thinking folks like Susana Martinez, Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, etc.
It’s not as if the Bamster set the bar all that high....
As I see candidate after candidate being dismissed as insufficiently pure, thread after thread, it sure sounds like it.
Does anyone here think that Romney is a conservative candidate or that Trump has a chance in hell of winning?
Trump represents the right attitude for winning. The battle must be taken to Obama. He won't win but even Romney is better than Obama.
Are there any serious conservative candidates who are officially in the race yet?
If you read the threads here there are no conservative candidates or politicians period whether in or out of the race.
“I’d take...”
How about Clay Henry III. Beer drinking goat and longtime mayor of Lajitas, Texas?
Look it up. He’s even got more executive experience than Barry. =)
Teeee-Pawwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
His commercials make him seem more exciting than he really is. And that will be a problem.
Go away!
The Team SHOULD BE: Palin/West.
If not.......Trump is sounding really good lately.......(pro-Life, too).......
Well....let's see.
1. I, nor virtually every other natural born US citizen knows virtually nothing about him.
2. He drinks beer.
3. He's from the south.
4. His name infers he's at least a natural born US citizen (Clay=terra firma=land=posession=US...and Henry=steel drivin' man)!
4. He's from a mexican sounding town, so he'll get the illegal alien and mexican and spanish vote.
5. He loves other animals (why wouldn't he?).
6. He's kept his town of Lajita together through thick and thin so he believes in union...so he gets the Union vote.
7. He never changes his statements. They're the same every time (bleat, bleat, bleat!)
And with the campaign slogan, "Tip yer canoe and Clay Henry III also!", how can he lose??
He's got my vote!!
I missed this yesterday. I think this makes him the first official GOP candidate for president. I don't think any of the others have officially declared like this yet (I could be wrong), they're just claiming they're considering running........like Pat Paulsen......
Oops, he’s recanted, he’s still “exploring”. At least according to this Polutico article: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2704003/posts
Pawpaw needs to give it up. Even 'exploring' is a waste of someone's time and money. Not to mention Jim Rob's bandwidth.
*rolls eyes*
With TPaw, you get them both in spades.
