Glenn Beck: Sarah Palin damaged her brand
Politico ^ | April12, 2011 | Andy Barr

Glenn Beck doesn’t see Sarah Palin running for president and said she has done some damage to her political brand.

Beck, a constant Palin cheerleader, said flatly on his radio show Monday, “Sarah Palin, I don’t think, wants to run for president.”

The outgoing Fox News personality has hosted Palin on his show several times – once for a full hour – and she has frequently lavished praise on him.

Still, even with all that good will, Beck was frank in assessing what Palin has done to hurt her own political stock – even though he credited her with surviving tough media coverage.

“There are some things about Sarah Palin,” he said, going on to suggest Palin made a mistake by selling her personal story in her first book after leaving the governor’s office, rather than demonstrating some policy credentials.

“She should have come out with that first book, and it should have been deep policy,” he said. “It should have shown that, yes, she knows where Russia is.”

“She didn’t help herself by doing some things to shore herself up,” Beck added.

Still, Beck predicted that Palin “wants to shape the debate,” though he sees her role as outside elective politics.

“I personally think she is on a smart path for the future to be able to hold people together,” Beck said. “It’s ideals that I think she is going for.”

I agree that Beck has brought a lot of necessary information to our attention. I certainly don’t disagree on that. Just don’t trust him him hook-line-and-sinker.

And, I 100% agree with you on Sarah.

Stalkers display an obsessive personality.

They are not just interested in, but totally obsessed with the person they are pursuing. Their every waking thought centers on the victim, and every plan the stalker has for the future involves the victim. Ask yourself this. Is the person totally involved in and completely overwhelmed with pursuing someone who has no and never will have any interest in him or her?

Along with obsessive thinking, they also display other psychological or personality problems and disorders. They may suffer from erotomania, paranoia, schizophrenia, and delusional thinking. According to Professor R. Meloy, “these stalkers have rigid personalities and maladaptive styles. These disorders in themselves are very stable and not treatable.” There are drugs to treat certain specific mental disorders, but stalkers, when given the choice, seldom continue with their medication or treatment.

I thought you said that you weren't going to reply to me anymore. That's twice you have said that and not carried through.

BTW, you're the one with the clear agenda. Not me.

“...don’t like it when conservatives turn on one another.”

Beck is not now, nor has he ever been a conservative. He’s a libertarian a-hole.

That fragmented jumble of cherry picked partial excerps could mean almost anything.

Usually, when a "journalist" spits out something like this, there is very little truth and a boatload of skewed context.

You raise a valid point.

Gee, why is it I suspect that Beck thinks every potential candidate has ruined his or her brand except for...um, let's see...Romney? Am I being cynical?

The last three times I tried to listen to Beck, they sounded like a bunch of hyenas giggling and jackasses braying. I finally changed stations and haven’t been back.

Don’t know.
Different game, different set of rules.

My point is that she just *might* be able to effect more good for the country by influencing and fundraising for another person rather than running herself; at least in 2012.
And if she thought that *were* the case she would put country first, as opposed to the egotists for whome it’s self first and country second.

OTOH she might run.

Beck is in a very lonely place. He wants desperately to get approval from his peers that he will never get.

Is there some negative view of the role of women coming into play? Or he may be trying to back away from Palin to allow him to support Romney or Huntsman.

The true conservatives are still with Sarah and he’s not one of them.

I was thinking to allow US congress not to pass any law which involves any taxation on personal income that a state could tax.

I should not have federal gas tax. Socialism should not be granted to the federal gov over the states. Federal Income tax is just BS...

How many fewer would have been at Beck’s rally if Sarah Palin wasn’t there? It sad how they all use her for their benefit and then criticize her.

Why would anybody that fears Obama, like I do, be crazy enough to want a candidate such as Sarah Palin running against Obama when SEVENTY TWO PERCENT (72%) of ALL voters believes that Sarah Palin would NOT be a good President?

You are talking about people parroting the media spin. The campaign hasn’t started yet and all of these polls are meaningless. 72% negative isn’t bad when the media has been 95% negative for two years plus. Candidates have to prove themselves in the campaign. If she can’t do that, she won’t be the nominee and all of the ABP people can try to decide which of the inferior candidates that they will support.
