When Meredith Vieira recently interviewed Donald Trump for NBC's Today show, she asked him whether he was concerned that people would have trouble taking him seriously as a presidential candidate. After all, she reasoned, here is a man who stars in his own television reality series. Who could possibly engender less gravitas than a TV reality show star?
Trump, of course, pointed to the success of the show as further evidence of his ability to be successful at anything and everything. But putting aside the irony of the question being asked by a network news anchor who is also a game show host (Vieira currently hosts Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?), we can learn a lot about President Donald Trump by watching Trump's shows, The Apprentice and The Celebrity Apprentice.
Trump can make a decision. The Donald's main function on the shows is to whittle down the field of contestants until only the winner remains. But what's important to observe is how he goes about making his decision each week. Watching Trump choose whom to fire is a study in decision-making. Trump is measured and patient. Trump consults with experts. Trump seeks opinions from everyone involved: teammates, the opposition, his own trusted advisers, and customers. He withholds judgment until he has all the facts, but once he has the information he needs, he renders his decision swiftly and confidently. Trump's trademark phrase -- "You're fired!" -- is now iconic in the American lexicon. When it's too close to call, Trump isn't afraid to go with his gut.

OK, so Trump has a ten-digit net worth. So he must be smart. But you have to explain why he doesn't belong in the same bag with Soros.
The whole birther case is a poison pill designed to embarrass the Right. Trump should be laughed off!
Actually we are laughing at freepers who don’t get the whole Trump thing. Your thinking is stuck
Trump was simply applying grease to the rails towards getting things he wanted done in NY.
That being said, I have little doubt he’d say and do whatever it takes to get what he wants. He’s a master manipulator. Without basic core principles short of satisfying his ego, that makes him a dangerous man in a position of power.
I am not shure how it embarasses the Right. Most Reouos won’t touch it. The Donald is a fringe guy, mnot exactly a long time republ;ican operative. Besides, if Obama shows the long form now and it is cleamn, Wha t took him so long. If he doesn’t What is he hiding?
Did we know Rangel was a crook in 2006? Was Rangel not the most senior member of the NY delegation in the U.S. Congress? Trump owns dozens of properties in Rangel's district. Get real.
Trump’s donated primarily to Dems over the years—59-41%, but more telling are those Republicans he has donated to: the closet Democrats like Crist, Specter and Kirk.

He is however campaigning the way Palin so wanted McCain to campaign in 2008.
Exactly.

Parents were
Frederick Christ Trump, born October 11, 1905 in Queens, NY, died June 1999 in Queens, NY
Mary Ann MacLeod, born May 10, 1912 in SCOTLAND, died August 7, 2000 in Queens, NY. Arrived in US October 5, 1935. Married January 1936. Naturalized as a US Citizen March 10, 1942.
Both parents were US Citizens at the time of his birth (Meets the Jus Sanguinis Requirement)
Donald Trump is a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN unlike Comrade Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama.
In politics there are no friends or enemies, only those who can hurt you or help you.
Dismantling the things that make America great. Intentionally causing pain by restricting energy and making the damage permanent with massive debt and money printing.
Good grief! I sure hope not.
I’m laughing at you.
Trump’s a turd in the punchbowl, but it’s clear that we deserve him. Look at all the chumps here on FR lining up to follow him.
...”But you have to explain why he doesn’t belong in the same bag with Soros”...
I suppose that answer might be because Donald Trump is not actively working with all the leftists and communists he can find to help him collapse the US Economy, to replace it with some kind of Socialist Economy where the Government makes all the decisions about everyone’s life, except the lives of the rulers, of course. George Soros seems to think he will participate in a global dictatorship if he can succeed in bringing America to her knees..He has collapsed the currencies of nations before. Donald Trump loves America and wants to save her. Do your homework, Sir or Ma’am.
“Did we know Rangel was a crook in 2006? Was Rangel not the most senior member of the NY delegation in the U.S. Congress?”
Yes and yes. Rangel took his House seat from the egregiously corrupt Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. (so corrupt that he actually got voted out of the House by his peers—a very rare event in a Congress full of thieves). Rangel was cut from the same cloth as his predecessor. But until and unless he is tossed, it would behoove those with property interests in NYC to remain in his good graces. If that requires greasing the skids, so be it.
I’m not inclined to hold Trump responsible for the corrupt system in which he must do business. Getting on his case for such donations—which he probably views as a cost of doing business—is a bit like criticizing Exxon for paying off a foreign official for letting their tankers into port etc.
...”Without basic core principles short of satisfying his ego, that makes him a dangerous man in a position of power”...
Most of the time, the people who become dangerous in positions of power are those who do not already have it. Trump has been nationally known for his wealth and power for many, many years.
DrC..Excellent post!
“Who could possibly engender less gravitas than a TV reality show star?”
I remember a certain ex-”B movie actor” who generated more gravitas than any two presidents since Lincoln.
