Novelist Patricia Cornwell, billed as Americas No. 1 crime writer, is entangled in a real-life federal investigation into the expenditure of tens of thousands of dollars in illegal campaign contributions to Hillary Rodham Clintons 2008 presidential campaign, court records show.
Evan Snapper, a former wealth manager awaiting sentencing in federal court in Washington, D.C., for illegal campaign donations, says he helped funnel campaign contributions as a favor to Ms. Cornwell, once an important and powerful client of his firm, according to a sentencing memo filed Friday.
Mr. Snapper has acknowledged he took those steps on his own initiative to conceal the true purpose of the payments for political contributions, in order to protect his client, the memo said.
But attorneys for Ms. Cornwell, who has not been charged with any wrongdoing in the governments campaign finance probe, say they think Snapper falsely accused her in the bundling of illegal campaign cash for the Clinton campaign after she sued him.

Wow, she sounds like a nut. I used to read all of her books till “Book of the Dead.” She trashed Pres. Bush and his Iraq policies throughout the novel. And then in public, she claimed that the DoD tried to coerce her into making a military recruiting commercial. For such a talented writer, she sure made a mess of her life. And yes, she used to be a republican.
I read one of her books, that was enough. Stupid thing about someone stealing “submerged” mothballed submarines. Talk about silly...

I liked her books, too. Haven’t read any recently, but my Mom has bought her two recent ones, and has been VERY disappointed. Interesting. I recently got into Vince Flynn. Heard about him through Rush and finally picked up his first book at a book exchange store. It started out slow, but is really starting to grab me. A friend of mine who’s also a fan gave me ALL his books to read, so now I don’t have to buy anymore! Looking forward to it!
I read several of her books—quite good. Sorry to read all of this about her.
Ha! I picked up Vince Flynn after I became disappointed with Scarpetta. I read them all last year and now I’m caught up and craving more!
Her first six or seven books were very good and she wrote them before forensic science was a household term.
Man, that’s wild.
Vince Flynn is excellent. Also take a look at Brad Thor.
Both are great. I have read all their books and can't wait for new ones. If you like them, you will like Daniel Silva.
