Prosecutors want murder suspect held without bond

KINGMAN — Prosecutors are trying to hold a Bullhead City murder suspect without bond.

Carlos Elisianio Gomez, 24, is charged with first-degree murder. He faces life in prison with or without parole after 25 years if convicted of the murder charge. Prosecutors have not decided whether to seek the death penalty against him. They have 60 days from arraignment to decide. Gomez was arraigned March 3.

Gomez, originally from Guatemala, is charged with allegedly shooting Daniel Mares Lopez Feb. 17 while Lopez was walking on the street at Coronel and Coronado drives. Lopez died at a Bullhead City hospital from multiple gunshots wounds. Gomez was arrested the next day where he worked at a market on Hancock Road. Gomez allegedly shot Lopez, 39, for having an affair with Gomez’s 15-year-old girlfriend.

In a hearing last week, Deputy Mohave County Attorney Jeremy Huss asked the judge to hold Gomez without bond. Gomez is currently being held in county jail on a $1.5 million bond. According to the county jail, he also has a border patrol hold for being an illegal immigrant.

Huss called Gomez’s girlfriend to the stand and she testified how she told detectives that Gomez threatened Lopez’s life when he found out about the affair by intercepting a text message.

She said she was in the car with her 6-month-old child when Gomez stopped, got out of the car and allegedly shot Lopez once in the head and twice more when he fell to the ground. She believed he took the gun into the back of the market where he worked as a butcher.

Shame they could not of somehow manged to kill all three of themselves. Sounds like the gene-pool would have been much better off.

Where to start? Gomez, a 24 year old illegal working as a butcher, shoots Lopez, 39 years old. Motivation is that Lopez was having an affair with Gomez's 15 year old girlfriend, who has a 6 month old child.

A child, or as prosecutors like to call it, unimpeachable evidence of statutory rape. This guy shouldn't have been a murderer because he should have already been tried, convicted and imprisoned for statutory rape.

And, where are this GIRL's parents? Why weren't they in front of the prosecutor 6-months ago, or sooner, demanding that Gomez be arrested?

How do you come here for a better at age 15 have a baby of which will be wrapped around her arms for 18 years. Which I imagine she dropped out school, thus taxpyers will provide for the child needs.I would of liked to of seen if the 24 year old was the actual father as such the parents would of known,a 24 yo dude is fooling around with their daughter.Then if things were not bad enough already, she takes up a 39 year old.All in all in their world this must be normal.
