I was tempted to say that a writer would have to work hard at being more ignorant and foolish than Oohagh, I decided not to. When you start with many false assumptions about reality, it is very hard to reach valid decisions.

"but does anyone think that an under-nourished, over-stressed 20-year-old college student will be able to stop a gunman?"Oh, those poor dears. Perhaps the U.N. should set up some soup kitchens on campus.

"but does anyone think that an under-nourished, over-stressed 20-year-old college student will be able to stop a gunman?" YES. When I was 20 and in college, I could have given the rat bastard a third eye before he knew what hit him. Had the hoplophobes who ran my alma mater allowed me to carry, that is.
And, a bonus comment: I HATE the expression "gunman". When I am at the range, hunting, or wearing a pistol while fishing (damned snakes), am I a "gunman?"

With a name like Oonagh McQuarrie it seems that diversity has been achieved in a least one person.

It’ll only be “ill-timed” if some miscreant (like a Loughner) opens up at ASU and kills dozens of defenseless students, BEFORE the law gets enacted.
