So far the responses seem to be to the title. It would help if people would actually read the articles before commenting on them

Authors of Krauthammer's stature shouldn't shoot their foot off by giving a title to a piece that is guaranteed to elicit a negative response.

Especially when that author's conservative credentials have gone underwater.

Newspaper columnists don't compose their own titles.

That's the job of the Headline Editor at each newspaper running the column.

Reason is: Some papers may choose to run the column in one-column format, others in two-, three- or four-column format. In each case the headline must be of a different width and proportion. Accordingly, the individual papers always write the headlines -- on any news story or commentary.
