Problem is, Dreams from My Father has been studied closely and declared a ghostwritten book, most likely written (as he has boasted to others) by Bill Ayers. The analysis is not bulletproof (it's stylistic and statistical analysis) and has itself been criticized. But it corroborates Ayers's reported boasts and makes the entire book untrustworthy, and certainly details like this one questionable.
