Activists Give Boehner A Nod of Approval (Tea Partiers looking forward)
The Wall Street Journal ^ | April 9, 2011 | Jonathan Weisman and Jennifer Levitz

Posted on 04/09/2011 6:26:31 PM PDT by ratsreek

Leaders of the small-government, tea-party movement are generally giving House Speaker John Boehner high marks for his leadership in the spending showdown, even though the agreement eventually reached Friday night fell short of the cuts the tea party once demanded.

The relationship between the Republican leadership and these activists is one of the most important determinants of how this Congress will manage the fiscal fights to come.

Tea-party backers have been leery of Mr. Boehner for months, questioning his zeal and driving him toward a tougher line on spending.

As negotiations inched close to a deal late Friday, much of the movement's institutional leadership resisted raising the temperature and were willing to cut Mr. Boehner some slack, in hope that he will extract more dramatic concessions in the budget showdowns to come.

Within weeks, the House will press forward on a blueprint to dramatically change Medicare and Medicaid, lower tax rates, simplify the tax code, and cut nonsecurity spending by $1.6 trillion over the next decade.

We've got work to do.

We must continue awakening America to the critical situation we are still in.

November was a good start, but we need to keep pounding this to people by working in our communities, our workplaces, and beyond. The rats are in full attack mode and will remain so through the '12 election. They will never quit, but we can take them out of power so that can't inflict their sickness on our society. Leave them to their failed, evil philosophies and belief systems, but let's remove their control of our destinies. We have to beat them back. This fight will never end, and when we win, going forward thereafter we MUST remain vigilant. Really, this has become a test of wills.

I don't know about the rest of you, but my continuing prayer to God is to give me the stamina and strength of will to keep on hammering against the evil left.

its what we have to do. Dismantle the nanny state piece by piece over the next few decades. And pray that we have enough time.

“Leaders of the small-government, tea-party movement”

Who would that be? No one asked me.

Fortunately the Tea Party is not full of dumbasses and fully realizes that we only won a battle in a war in 2010.

Indeed, we do have work to do and taking the Senate back is critical to accomplish what most want.

Even then if Urkel is still in the WH we will have to make him use his veto pen. Over and over.

What the RATs hope for is for people to get impatient and mad when unrealistic expectations cannot be fulfilled and turn on the GOP. Screw that.

To use baseball terminology, Boehner hit a single, it keeps the inning going, nothing else.

Since when does the Wall Street Journal have an in with the Tea Party, which it dismissed as weirdo extremists for years.

And who are these “much of the movement’s institutional leadership “? Nobody asked me.

Sounds like the WSJ has a bunch of publicity seekers in its Rolodex file who are hijacking a role they don’t have.

The Tea Party has no leaders. It has shared beliefs and principles. The valueless MSM can;t comprehend that yet.

Another big government excuse article for the RINO’s in the House of Representatives who just sold us out AGAIN!

No, more like he made it to first on a force out, or a passed ball on a third strike.

There are no leaders of the tea party.

Any time you hear “leaders of the tea party,” be on the lookout for a well-disguised swindle.

Activists Give Boehner Nod Of Approval?

Ha! Yeah, the activists from the left. I have been watching the comments from many different places.

You got that right. This article is a crock. Boehner's getting hit hard on what happened last night. The only activists that are giving him a nod of approval are the ones fighting against the Tea Party, against the republicans and are supporters of Obama/Reid/Pelosi.

Great analogy.Hit a single to keep the inning going.

Let the country see its not as painfull as the rest of the country is lead to believe.
You can’t turn a ship around on a dime but at least you can give the wheel a good turn to the right.
To me he played his cards right. I mean you only have the house. It would be like going all in with pocket 8’s.He played good cards with the hand he had.

Talk to the average American on the street. You would be surprised how much you have in common with them. Many are genuinely surprised that others feel the same way. They will open up, and I truly enjoy doing this.

What, by this action, was done with the Federal budget:
.
A family with income of $26,000 a year is spending $38,000. (Add eight zeroes to each of those figures and you have the federal budget.)
.
The so-called “man of the house” tells his family, “We can’t go on like this. Our credit cards are near their limit, and soon we won’t even be able to pay the interest on them. We need to spend less, so let’s cut spending this year by $630 to $37,370”
.
After a few days of conflict at home, he can’t bear the pressure. He goes back to his family and sheepishly tells them he will be satisfied if they cut spending by only $390, and that he will accept the family spending $37,610.
.
Why should we have any confidence Republican leaders will have the courage to address the remaining $11,600 in my example (multiplied by 100 million in the federal budget) when they can’t hold out even a weekend over a lousy $240 that won’t even begin to address the problem?
.
I’m thoroughly disgusted with not just them, but my supposedly conservative Congressman that voted them into positions of leadership. Why give majorities to Republicans when the allow Democrats to dictate the agenda and the results on any issue of consequence?
