Having spent a number of years in heavy industry, I recall that we went out of our way to arrange for backup suppliers of every item possibly needed in case one had an extended strike, fire or any disruption of flow. And with the advent of just in time inventory it became even more important. If Toyota is ceasing USA manufacturing it must be cause of shortsightedness on the part of Japanese leadership.
It must be the hari-kari mentality. But in the meanwhile American workers suffer.

Bring the factories here. Pronto. Even if the Japanese factories were not damaged, they are rationing power, and the government is giving preference to residential power consumers over factories. We have power, so pack those factories up and move them here.
