The bipartisan deal struck Friday falls short of the House Republican campaign pledge to cut $100 billion in fiscal 2011 spending.
The pact cuts $78.5 billion when compared to President Obama's fiscal 2011 budget request, which was never enacted.
The accord cuts $39 billion in actual spending, $22 billion less than bill the House passed in February.
In a brief interview, Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told The Hill the agreement was "as good a deal as we could get."
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), chairman of the Republican Study Committee, said he expects "significant" opposition from conservatives, both to the short-term fix and the long-term spending bill. He said he will vote against both

They’re only really tough when fighting for the top 3% of this nation. The rest of the time they’re ready to throw you overboard.
Social conservatives take it laying down again.
You may of lost...I’m happy and I believe most TEA Partiers will be pleased. The fight goes on...
This Rino Speaker of the House is not the best speaker Republicans can get?
Within 6 months, he's GONE.
These weenies coulcn’t play poker and keep their shirts. We need to lose this Boner guy. There’s gotta be better!
$80 B out of $ 100 cuts on what was a DEM budget is pretty darn good IMO.
I guess I'll just keep buying more gold and silver. They will continue to increase in price as long as the a**holes in D.C. continue to cave to the spenders.
The political capital is best to be saved for their own budget coming up. That is the real test of wills, and the longer the argument raged on with this budget, the less likely there will be any success with the next budget. Unless you like winning for losing, of course.
It was a pretty good deal considering libs control both the Senate and presidency. Let’s take back control of those institutions in 2012. THEN we can pursue much smaller government.
“we lost”
No, we didn’t. The Republicans may have but they are not us.
When are Conservatives going to learn? We are not Republicans, and Republicans are not us.
Republicans do not represent us. They do not speak for us. They do not think like us. They do not have the same values as us. They do not even like us.
They.... Are.... Not.... Us!
If you expect your argument to be taken seriously, let up on the sophomoric comments about calling someone who’s last name does not even come close to being pronounced that way into a pervert sexual reference. This is not middle school - and comments like that don’t indicate your mindset is ready for serious discussion about public policy. Let’s grow up. Our side is supposed to be where the adults are... Okay? < stepping down off of soap box >
The Republicans won. The conservatives lost.
What nonsense.
Boehner and the House Republicans scored a big victory tonight. Did we get everything we wanted? Of course not. Is there any chance in hell we were going to get everything we wanted? Of course not.
We control the House. That’s it. The Democrats control the Senate and the White House. We are NOT going to get everything we campaigned on because we don’t control the necessary machinery of government to get our wish list completed.
All this nonsense about Boehner being forced out or that we somehow lost is absolute hogwash.
We have now changed the terms of the debate. The country is no longer talking about whether to cut, now we talk only about how much. President Obama was forced to go on TV tonight and essentially embrace spending cuts - just months ago he was busy pushing spending increases.
This was a major Republican win tonight. Period.
Looks like there is plenty of Reps not too happy about these deals,God’s will will be done but individuals will be individuals.Rep Boehner is not a bad man, just one who doesn’t realize how to drive a good bargain.
I think the fact that they are forcing a vote in the Senate to repeal the healthcare bill and got the agreement not to fund more IRS hires are big deals.
I wanted them to shut it down but I have recently been watching my state news and a little bit of national news and I believe they did the right thing because the media has everyone convinced that the mean old Pubbies are ready to starve America out.
I think they should come out saying that they had to protect our military because O wanted to punish them, even though they are risking their lives all over the world.
Get him out and vote a man in the seat.
