My own personal opinion, and I could be wrong, is that Obama and Reid really wanted the shutdown if it meant the Republicans got the blame. My take is that by them agreeing to anything at all must mean that they perceived that they would get the blame if a shutdown occurred.

TBH - I think Boehner is going to look ok in this.
He gets some cuts, obama and reid dont get their demogouge nonsense, and we still havethe discussion focused on cuts.
Of course the cuts are smaller than we want, but cosidering that bama wanted a shutdown - it could have been worse.
