Those open Senate votes are going to have HUGE implications for 2012, because so many Dems have to defend seats.(yawn)
I think you are failing to take into account all the (now former) Republican voters who are throwing their hands in the air and wondering, "What's the point?" The scumbag House Republicans have just brushed off the tea party like dandruff.

Then they are not thinking. The only way to repeal Obamacare is to get the Senate and the Presidency.
By forcing a vote on repeal you force the Senate Democrats to go through hell again. The phone calls, the emails, the news reports. The American people don't want it. If I were a Democrat I'd go ahead and vote to repeal it just for getting put through that again.
Then it will be all on Obama.
To me it looks like an opening to drive a wedge right between Senate Democrats and Obama.
The worst that can happen is we get them all on the record one more time on this before elections.

All one has to do is look at the graph of George Bush's favorability ratings from 2001 - 2008.
