Sarah Palin Tells GOP 'Don't Retreat', Other Potential 2012 Presidential Candidates Disagree
abcnews.com ^ | April 8, 2011

Posted on 04/08/2011 6:00:51 PM PDT by Al B.

As the deadline to avoid a government shutdown approached Friday night, Sarah Palin pushed Republican Congressional leaders one more time to hold their ground.

"GOP: don't retreat! The country is going broke. We can't AFFORD cowboy poetry & subsidizing abortion," Palin tweeted. "If we can't fight to defund this nonsense now when we have the chance, do you think we'll win the big fight on entitlement reform later on?"

[...]

Notably, some of Palin’s fellow possible 2012 presidential contenders appeared to be at odds with her Friday evening tweet, counseling GOP leaders on Capitol Hill that it’s time to cut a deal.

“I am ready for a big fight that will change the arc of history,” Rep. Michelle Bachmann, R-Minn., wrote on Twitter this afternoon. “The current fight in Washington is not that fight.”

[...]

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.....“Nobody’s more pro-life than me. Nobody. But as much as I want to see Planned Parenthood defunded, as much as I want to see N.P.R lose their funding, the reality is the president and the Senate are never going to go along with that. So win the deal you can win and live to fight another day.”

So you know more about politics than the lady that KO’d the sitting governor in her own party with her own money earned from a fishing business and a snowmobile dealership in a small town???

Get real!

You know absolutely nothing about politics.

You know if Palin had run for House of Representatives last year she probably would have beat Boehner for Speaker and been able to make sure this never happened.

So it's all her fault, eh? And you actually believe that a freshman Congresswoman, who the GOP DC establishment universally despises, could somehow waltz into DC from Wasilla and suddenly get elected as Speaker?

Next for GOP leaders: Stopping Sarah Palin

You're kidding, right?

Sorry I'm late to this party. My landline and DSL have been down for the past 18 hours and I just got back online.

Looks like Boehner, MB, and the rest of the House GOP caved last night, while Sarah continues to stand strong. Is this correct?

No more difficult than waltzing into the White House and you appear sure that it will happen, even though she never says anything about herself running.

What if every conservative (like MB) and Republican member of congress left congress and new ones refused to run so they didnt have to compromise their principles? They could all write opinions on blog posts like we do instead. I bet that would balance the budget

That is correct although IMO Boehner had surrendered before the battle even began.

I’m amazed at the folks around here that say that saving our “ammo” for the big 2012 budget fight is the right thing to do. Ryan’s plan is dead until after the 2012 election IMO. He’ll get a few crumbs in the 2012 budget debate and that’s it. Again, JMO.

The ruling class wins, again. Us country class bumpkins are in for a long fight. Hope we’re up for it. The country is at stake.

I understand Mark Levin took Boehner to task this morning on Cavuto’s show. Looking forward to the video on that.

I have never said she would waltz into the White House since I know it would be a very difficult fight, with all the crooked Alinsky tactics employed by Axelrod's Chicago organization on Obama's behalf. Moreover, there is a big difference in running an insurgent nationwide campaign for President backed by millions of hard core supporters than going into the congressional cesspool and lobbying the uniformly hostile DC-based GOP power brokers for the Speaker's job.

As for her intentions on running, like all the other PDS'ers, I bet you have never read Going Rogue. Get back to me when you do.

I’m not sure Sarah can be elected President.

Perhaps chair of the Government of National Salvation which it now appears will be required.

“I’m amazed at the folks around here that say that saving our “ammo” for the big 2012 budget fight is the right thing to do. Ryan’s plan is dead until after the 2012 election IMO.”

Great Strategy. Save the ammo. The French were saving their ammo in WW II trying to avoid a loss until the Germans bypassed them through the Ardennes Forest and barreled toward Paris. They had plenty of ammo left, but it was useless.

Hitler made the same mistake at Normandy holding his Panzers at Pas de Calais. When he finally employed them, it was too late.

Ryan’s plan is now as dead a duck as Paris was in 1940 after the first French mistake. Hopefully the economy won’t completely come apart, but I expect the price of gold to skyrocket in the coming weeks as it becomes clear to all that the new GOP Congress is going to do nothing while Rome burns.

Palin alone among the GOP candidates sees this. Bachmann has exposed herself for what she is.

All epic defeats, political and military, can be summed up in two words, “Too late.”

Correct. Palin is like Patton in WWII. You fight every battle to win. When you acquiece or cave, you show weakness.

Absolutely correct as demonstrated when she used Patton's own words in her I quit speech. It was like listening to Patton's famous, "this is too tough...I'm going home to write a book" speech all over again.

Palin is absolutely the toughest leader, the most dedicated idealistic fighter, the most powerful, charismatic political animal ever to stand on the sidelines.
